I love September! / myLot

Spring has got to be my favourite season, seeing new growth appear day by day. And I love summer too - although I’m not crazy about hot weather, I love the long days and the early mornings. So when summer comes to an end, and it gets dark before we’ve even finished dinner, I can’t help feeling sad. But then along comes September when we often have really beautiful weather, as we are enjoying now. It really epitomises Keats’ ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’ with cool misty mornings followed by clear sunny days full of butterflies, birds, dragonflies and of course blackberries, hazelnuts, apples and pears, late plums, squashes… I am seizing the chance to make the most of these lovely mornings before wet and cold sets in. I am not a fan of summer, I do not like the hot weather and I like to have dinner with a dim light. September and October are beautiful months. I am waiting for chestnuts to be ready to be picked up, hazelnuts and walnuts are ready now.

@marlina Me too. I still do when I find some, but it's more difficult these days. Mainly because there are so many more grey squirrels then there were all those years ago!

@fleura A quotation from Keats is appropriate at any time. September is definitely the best month for me, especially now that I live beyond the immediate reach of the city. I do wish though that I was still in Donegal to enjoy the mists sitting on still waters and hanging on mountains like dirty laundry.

We have a peculiar kind of September Just today for example it rained and then the sun came out only to be hidden once again with heavy rain within a matter of minutes.
