Need a new iPhone

When I got my iPhone 6S, back in 2015 I think, I thought that 16 GB of storage was more than enough. Not anymore. I can no longer upgrade to the latest iOS because there is not enough storage on my phone for it. And I even had to delete some apps and pics to free up some space so I am not completely maxed out. It is definitely time to upgrade to a new iPhone and one with a lot more storage capacity than what I have now. Yet, I cannot bring myself to do it. And I don't even know which one to get. I don't necessarily need the latest model. An older one will do just fine. Which ones are good? My mom has the iPhone 11 and she is not thrilled about it.

That's one of the main reasons I've stuck with Samsung for so long. Until recently, they've offered expandable storage so I wasn't maxing out the storage on my phone. Now with cloud storage being a thing, you almost don't need internal storage anymore. I have never been a fan of Apple, but I can share my process for deciding what model to buy. List the pros and cons of your current phone. Then narrow down what features you need and what features you don't. What are you willing to sacerfice for an upgrade?

Hubby has Samsung Galaxy 10. Lots of storage but he is pretty much maxed out as well. I think it's because of the Telegram app. That one takes up A LOT of space. To me Apple is way more user friendly than the Galaxy.

I got an iPhone 12 mini about the same size as my iPhone 8 and I got a month before the contract was up. I like the camera function it’s much better then my 8 was.

It really doesn't matter which model you get, just as long as you are comfortable with the size. What does matter is the storage. Whatever new phone you get, you need to make sure you have ample storage that will last you long into the future. I have 256 GB on my iPhone 12, so I should be set for quite a while.

@lovebuglena More storage equals much higher price. I upgraded from a 6 to a 12. Huge difference in size. Part of the reason I held on to my 6 for so long was because of the smaller size.

@moffittjc I don't want a huge phone. My mom got her iPhone 11 directly from the Apple store and paid in full. Before we used to get it through AT&T and just pay it off in installments. I don't know why she thought getting it from Apple was better. If I am to get a new phone it would be through AT&T so you don't have to pay it all at once. I hope that doesn't mean overpaying. Are we charged interest for paying it off over time?

My mom has the 11. I do not like the size of it. Too big for me lol. I'd want something smaller. Maybe similar to the size of my 6S. More storage means a much higher price, no?

Is it same size as the 11 or smaller? I'd want smaller than 11.

I have iPhone 6 and I don’t want to buy a new one until it is no longer functioning. Whenever it is full, I transfer the photos in the USB.

Even if I transfer the photos it won't help much. Most of the used storage is not from photos. My battery is not as good as it used to be anymore either. It's at 81% capacity last I checked.
