I was there on time and we ate and talked until almost 8 when I left.
My aunt is worried about what to do with her life as it is not easy to find maids now.
She has been looking at rest homes but I don´t think that she would be happy there.
Life is not easy for old people in my country but neither is in many other countries. It is not always a matter of money but of how they are cared for.
Have you thought about what to do when you get old? It is starting to worry me.

@marguicha who knows? When the time comes maybe your children will take care of you. It's good for those with children.

I too had an aunt who lived alone when she was old. We cannot take care of her because we live far. We cannot find a maid for her, it was her tenant who was renting.her back house who attended to her until she was hospitalized and passed. I am unmarried with no kids, I don't know if there's someone I can call when I am old.

@florelway We do know that my aunt has enough money. But she said that if she went to a home, nobody would ever go to see her again.

@marguicha Yes it's not always easy to say that one settle in a nursing home or retirement home. My aunt when she was younger saved a lot because she said she'll stay in a nursing home. But reality came.we found out her money gone and nothing left of her jewelries.

I would like a small apartment in an assisted community if there was one here. But I haven´t heard of any

@marguicha I think I would like more the apartment than being at the nursing home, even if the local one is really beautiful.

We don't have children; so it makes me very stressful when I think about getting older than I already am! I already have major mobility issues. If my husband passes, I don't know what I would do.

@LindaOHio I was young. And after over 20 years I haven´t adjusted completely. I´m just a survivor.

I am old.
Living alone, I decided to get a good health care, which I do. Got, transportation to and from medical, dental & other medical appointments. When I went for colonoscopy, I was so relieved to have transportation benefits. Everything covered, even a medical alert button to all free. My family isn't worried about me. I stay as healthy as I can too. If, I'd money, I'd live in a Senior Community which last I inquired, takes 150,000 dollars upfront, but they'll cook, clean, have transportation for you, live in medical people, hair salon, workout station with lots of exercise equipment, entertainment center with tv & wifi!
Glad you had a nice visit!

My aunt could pay probably for a Senior Community if there were any here. But I don´t think that there are any. Are those dollars for a year?

That's good to afford it, sad there is none.
To my understanding, it's the price to be able to live at Senior community, it's like a condo, home with medical staff, like living in a hotel. I can only afford it, if I win sweepstakes I'm entered in.

My daughter says she will take care of me, but you know, I do not want that to happen.I have been taking care of various people for the last twenty five years, I do not want her to have to do that.

Glad you are able to enjoy your time with your aunt.
No, I haven't thought of it yet but I do hope that when the time comes, I can still look after my own and the family that I have.

I plan to live in my home for as long as possible. I still have a loving husband, who has many years left.

I think a lot about that. And the conversation with my aunt brought it again.
