Reverend Eddy Fisher was giving a sermon about, "prayer from the heart." Here is what he said: "What exactly is prayer from the heart?" "Praying from the heart is praying with the help of the Holy Spirit." "Every prayer that we pray connects us more strongly to God's love. This is what prayer from the heart helps to achieve." "Prayer from the heart is prayer that is carried out in the name of Jesus Christ, and so it is being guided by the Holy Spirit that lives in your heart, and this holy spirit is being newly contacted again each time that you connect to your heart, and also whenever you aspire to pray from your heart." "When you pray with your mind, this can also be good in a way, but you need to drop down to your heart to bring in the greater connective power of faith that brings God to life in you, and which your mind can only surmise something about the existence of this great power, but of which it, itself, can never really know fully, and so mostly your mind will just go on doubting that which your heart already knows." "Prayer from the heart is the type of prayer prayed with the connective energy of love, linked into the guiding light of the holy spirit, that is living within your heart, with you." "This bypasses the wants and desires of your mind that only ever prays in order to get something, or to try to change something, and so to try to satisfy its own wants, and desires, somehow." "The heart represents a compendium of energy that is placed in each person when their soul was first created." "This energy of love can be utilised by that soul to program its human body, and mind to influence them from its own intuitive nudges and guidance, that are always being given to their human self, in this way. The emptiness felt in a solitary life comes from the mind trying to connect without the heart connecting with it, alongside of it." "Any such connection is based on faulty assumptions in believing that the mind can connect through similarities to another person, but this misses the truth that all connection to all others, God included, must always be made from love." "Opening our hearts in prayer returns us to good spiritual health." "Prayer brings us the full reality of God that is now being realised within our own loving hearts, when our hearts are connecting to God in prayer." "'There is a vast difference between saying prayers, and praying.'" "This quote is from Martin Luther King, Jr (1929 to 1968), the great American Baptist preacher, and civil rights leader. The quote highlights to us, the difference between repeating memorised prayers continually with our mind, and of praying heartfelt prayers directly from our hearts." "In conclusion to this short sermon about praying from your heart, here is a quote from the Christian bible, from Jesus Christ himself." "This passage is from the King James Version of the bible, from Saint Matthew's gospel, chapter six, and verses five to seven." "'And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.'" "'But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.'" "'But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.'" "The mind repeats formula-like prayers like this, but the heart is always fresh with its newness." "Pray from your heart by feeling deep within you the power of the Holy Spirit that is in you, and let it guide you in the words that you use, rather than just trying to find the words within your own mind." "Prayer from the heart is prayer from the heart, and it is not just coming from out of your mind." "You need to get out of your mind, to connect to your heart and when you do, your heart will pray for you. Your heart already knows how to pray, and this is what prayer from the heart is all about." Our minds get preoccupied with worldly matters, while our heart is connected to our creator. Some merely say their prayers and be done with it but that is superficial and they lack the depth of feeling and earnestness. Praying from the heart shows our connectedness to God and taking him on board to elevate ourselves.

Yes, the ladder reaching up into God, always begins for us in our hearts, not in our minds. If we stand our ladder in our minds first, and try to extend them up from there, we risk falling off, because the base is not stable; only the base of love in our hearts, is a stable one, for us to position our ladder upon. We can only reach God from our hearts, otherwise, we are always climbing the wrong ladder, and who knows where that might lead us too, usually some fantasy world, of our own making. Do we want truth, or fantasy, is the question that we must ask ourselves here. The ladder in our heart always leads us to truth, as well as to God.

@Shiva49 Yes, we will find out that the snake that we try to climb up will always bite us in the end.

@innertalks Our ladders are put up everywhere except to our hearts. We know what to do but we take our creator for granted but the fact is God helps those who help themselves first though we tend to help ourselves by denying others their due. Unless our actions are led by our hearts to benefit society without borders, we will go around in circles, climbing up and brought down with a thud like in the Snake and Ladders game!

Yes. I agree with this. We should pray from the heart.

Yes, God knows when we have our heart behind our prayers, and behind our love for him too.

i am so far behind on notifications sorry I haven't stopped by!!! What is prayer? is it supplication to a God that already knew what was prayed? Or is it a verification that what we have around us is meant to be?

I am just pleased that you find time so often to stop by. You have given me a lot of your time, over time. Love connects us to God, and prayer connects us to him too, via our heart, and our mind, when they stay aligned to love. Prayer, otherwise, becomes the repeating of formulas, wanting to obtain a magical result. Prayer is more us singing our own songs to God, and hoping that he will join in on the chorus. So, with singing a song, it does not really matter whether the answers to your two questions are part of it or not, but perhaps prayer is both of those things too. We sing for the singing sake alone, to be a part of God's love-song of joy.

@DocAndersen Thanks, Scott. I would say that any time that we love anyone else, including ourselves, prepares us to better understand God's love too. Even loving our dogs, and feeling the love back from them, helps us to ultimately understand God's love better, as well.

@innertalks you present an interesting idea in this sir! Love connects us to God. Love, is what we seek from our partner (spouse) is that to prepare us to better understand Gods love?

sincere prayer comes from the heart, if we say it in a loud tone, we must believe in what we say, it must sink in as deeply

I agree, that sincere prayer, to be sincere prayer, must have the heart behind it
