Can't wait for some tongue

My mom had beef tongue in the freezer. She told me she wasn't gonna eat it and that I should take it. I agreed. I love beef tongue. I just finished boiling it. I cooked it with salt, rainbow peppercorns, two bay leaves, a large carrot, and a large onion. Gonna have it tonight for dinner. I am gonna make bulgur with sauteed onions to go along with the tongue. Maybe a salad as well.

How long do you boil the beef tongue? My mother would let it cool, slice it and place it in a mild vinegar solution with sliced onions. Oh my gosh, it was delicious!

I put it in a large pot filled with water. After it came to a boil I reduced the flame and cooked it for 1 hr 45 min. I took it out, removed the skin, and put it back in the pot for another 15 minutes. I think that should be enough.

I like beef tongue, I can never buy because my husband even hates to see it boiling on the stove.

Thank you. It was really good. The tongue was tender and it wasn't dry.

I like beef tongue, we cook it at home from time to time, it's called " lengua" ( same Spanish word for tongue) in the Philippines. We prepare it similar to yours , a Filipino-Spanish dish called " lengua estofado" I can understand your mother, not everyone likes beef tongue

It's funny how you find beef tongue tantalizing, and I find it repulsive. Well, I've actually never had it, but the thought of eating it gives me a bad feeling in my stomach.

People find liver repulsing as well. But I love it. Back in junior high we were asked what we had for breakfast and I told the class I had fried liver, which is what I actually had. Everyone looked at me like I was nuts.

My mom made the best beef tongue when I was little and served it with special gravy, potatoes, and buttered corn, Enjoy your tongue,

That sounds delicious. Would have been great with mashed potatoes and gravy. Don't have either of these.
