Funny how musicians can find different areas of the body to use as inspiration for a song title. They use the senses like your eyes, limbs like arms and legs, and other pieces of your anatomy from head to toe. Quite a creative way to come up with a tune! So, this trivia series contains songs with some musical "body art," hope you enjoy them...
In trying to figure out which body part to choose next I took a vote... and the "Ayes" won.
One "sees" quite a lot through this body part. They provide others an inward look into our thoughts and emotions. So, let's begin our journey with a tune by Jackson Browne. Hope you enjoy the song....
And now it's time for our artists and trivia songs! Name that tune: Whodunnit?
(Remember words in quotations can provide hints to the music trivia answers)
Trivia Clues:
1. This 1975 song is about a woman who cheats on her husband. She is feeling down and gives her husband an excuse that she's seeing a friend when in fact she is meeting her lover. Her husband knows where she is going for her eyes give her away, "she's leavin' and heading for the cheatin' side of town." Did you know in America, this band's Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the best-selling album of all time. These "Desperados" with the "West Coast Sound" were one of the most popular groups of the 70's. With songs like "Best of My Love," "Witchy Woman," "One of These Nights," and their classic tune "Hotel California," these guys "flew" right to the top of the music business! Final song clue: the word "deception" is another way of saying your ____________. Put "this together with today's body part theme" and you've got the song title!
Fun fact: This group formed in Los Angeles in 1972 after backing Linda Ronstadt as her touring band.
-Do you know this California based band and their song which reached #2 on the Hot 100 charts?
2. This song came out in 1971 and was supposed to be used in a "film project" similar to other's this rock artist made. One of those films was from the "1969 album" by this band, a "Rock-Opera" about a "deaf, dumb, and blind boy." The artist wrote today's quiz song to convey how lonely it is to be so powerful. He starts off the tune with these lyrics: "Nobody knows what it's like to be the bad man, the sad man", --- He mentions an "eye color" in the song which is also a part of the "tune's title." The lyrics are based on the artist's own feeling of anxiety - that no one knows what it's like to be him, with high expectations and pressure to be someone he's not. This "English Rock Band" was formed in 1964. One of their most critically successful albums included songs from the band's abandoned film project "Lifehouse." Tune's like "Won't Get Fooled Again," "Baba O'Riley," and today's mystery song were well received by the music critics.
Sad fact: The band's lead singer's dog got run over on the day he recorded his vocals for this song - it was the first dog he ever had. It took all his willpower to pull himself together for the recording.
-Do you know the name of these English rockers and their eye color tune?
3. Our mystery artist and "Jersey Boy" recorded this tune solo in 1967, and it reached #2 on the charts. This was the artist's biggest solo hit (not counting his group work) until his #1 "My Eyes Adored You" in 1975. Funny how his 2 biggest solo hits contained the word "eyes" in the title
This song was featured in the 1978 movie The Deer Hunter in a scene where the song plays on the jukebox as a group of guys are shooting pool before shipping out to fight in the Vietnam War. In the scene, Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken's characters boisterously sing along to the song, getting loud when the song reaches its "I love you baby" climax.
Fun Fact: Bob Gaudio, a member of the Four Season's band and writer of this song was in the group The Royal Teens who had a hit with (Who Wears) "Short Shorts." Anyone remember that tune?
-Do you know the name of this Jersey artist and his solo hit song?
Ok, let's "keep your eye on the ball" when solving these song and artist answers. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as Randy Newman would say, "You've Got A Friend In Me."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with another music trivia quiz in early October after returning from a much needed vacation.
Stay tuned...

1. The Eagles have good eyesight and can see Lying Eyes even from a distance.
2. Is it The What? The When? The Where? No, it's The Who! As for the song, is it Blue Eyes?
3. These Eyes Adored You from the fist moment that I saw you. Is it Frank Sinatran, no it's Frankie Valli!
I think I did pretty good on this one but I'll keep my eyes wide open to read what you have to say.

1. I remember hearing Henley and Frey doing an interview, and the subject of that song came up. On it being so freaking long (over six minutes, with nary a long instrumental break), Glenn joked, “We’ve got 63 verses! We gotta add ONE MORE!!!”
No lyin’ (eyes) there!
2. Roger and Pete both have blue eyes, as did the late John Entwistle. I guess that means Keith Moon was actually the one behind blue eyes.
3. Kenny Nolan (who had a hit [“I Like Dreamin’”] about the same time as “My Eyes Adored You” came out and co-wrote MEAY) said he wrote that originally as “Eyes of Georgia” instead of “My Eyes Adored You.” But you didn’t ask about that one, you asked about Frankie’s ‘67 hit (are his daughters known as Valli girls?
) that was just too good to be true. I can’t take my eyes off of your quizzes!!!!!
Rah rah Jackson Browne!!!!
