Garage Sale Fun

On Saturday morning we went to a few sales in the neighborhood. I try to limit what I buy, but I found a complete set of dishes for five dollars. After bringing them home I noticed a few chips but overall I'm happy with them until I can afford a new set.
Most important is that it's fun, and if I'm careful and I don't buy very much, then it's a pretty cheap excursion for the day.
What do you think of my dishes?

@misunderstood_zombie That's true. Pretty wants to pick up things she can "do something with later" and then never gets around to doing anything with them.

It really is a cheap way to have fun but I must be careful about what I buy. I don't want an entire house of garage sale things everywhere and stuffed in the closets.

I love those, so unique. I like to thrift shop and go to the occasional yard or garage sale. I see a lot of sets of beautiful china for very little money. No one wants china anymore, they don't want to mess with it. I always loved pretty dishes. Good find,

I have two sets of china. One was my mothers and one mine--the only problem is that they have metal on them and can't go in the microwave. I wonder if that's why other people don't like them as much?

@MarieCoyle Wow, that is so wonderful that you have your grandmother's set from another country. Hopefully, it will be handed down for many years to come.

I think that is one big reason, the other being the metal edges usually discolor in the dishwasher, so they need to be hand washed. I love the beautiful old dishes, I have 2 sets--one a toile print with a ton of extra pieces, and one set my grandmother brought from Europe when she came to the US. I will keep that set forever, then my daughter wants it.

THose are great. I didn't have yard sale success on Saturday, but there is a sale on Weds. the church has that I am going to hit tomorrow on the way out of town.

Pretty colourful. You may have to look for the food in the plate as the print will hide it.
