Lots of apples to use up / myLot

My sister and brother-in-law took their 2 young children apple picking yesterday. I told her to get me some Granny Smiths as they are my favorite. They weren't available but they got me a bag of Golden Delicious. I am going to attempt making an apple pie. I don't know if I've ever made one before. My neighbor told me to make a pie and she would make a bacon-wrapped pork roast and we would have dinner together this weekend while her son is with his father. I am also going to try making applesauce. I've never made it before. I've been eating a lot of it lately though because it is easy on my delicate stomach. I've seen a few recipes for it in the Instant Pot so that is probably the route I will go. Love my Instant Pot.

Both are very easy to make. I did pie filling, apple sauce and apple butter last year in the slow cooker

Applesauce is easy to make. I use a Foley foodmill but you might not know about that. I've not used a crockpot in years but several times a year we make applesauce cause we can't stand the store crud. I also make apple pie way too often.

I have made applesauce before. It is really good when made from scratch. It is a lot sweeter. It's a lot better than store bought.

We have an abundance of apples here, too, because I got the idea that buying half-a-bushel from a local producer was a good idea. Looking at how many are left, I am having somewhat mixed feelings about how good of an idea that really was...

Granny Smiths would have been perfect for the pie. I don't know about the Golden Delicious.
