Foreign Based Companies in India

Some companies from foreign countries have opened their offices in India and force their employees in India to work according to their timings which is affecting the health of the Indians, but strangely the Indian companies who have invested in foreign soil have to adhere to their timings. Why this discrimination? Why is India allowing this atrocity and harming the health of its citizens? These companies will not leave the Indian soil because of cheap labour and natural resources.

Well, when we worked and were self employed but operated on the New York stock exchange we had to do the same. If you want to work you must adapt, this is not at all discrimination.

@aninditasen Also those who accept the job have a choice. We could have chosen not to work with the United States... but we had to work in order to make money, where is the difference. People here have night shifts, even if they are local? So where is the difference? I think people should be grateful to have a job.

You adapted for your own benefit to monitor the New York stock that you bring you profit. You got the whole profit for the labour you put in as you were self employed. It was your own choice, but here in India the employees have to work against their sleep cycle which is making our working citizens sick. This is a kind of crime.

As you were self employed that was your choice. Here the employees are forced to work against their sleep cycle which is creating a pack of unhealthy citizens in India which is not good for the economy of our country.

I agree with you and therefore I think each company should adhere to the country's time zone in which it has opened its office.

Many Indian companies have night shifts as well and when it comes to foreign companies they do this for interaction with their offices abroad.

Indian companies have to have night shifts because they have set up offices abroad and my grievance is there. Both ways it's the Indians who have to adjust. Why can't the people there work according to the Indian times zone instead of making our people sick by disturbing their sleep cycle.

@aninditasen I think it depends on where the Companies are located. Foreign companies will surely follow their own timings and I am sure if foreigners are employed by Indian companies they too would be following Indian timings

@allknowing They never do. I have the prove. They work according to their own time zone whether the office is in India or their country.

It isn't discrimination. The companies must be open when business in their home country is open so that means employees in India must work to the time in the country where the company is based. The Indians can quit if they don't like it and the company will be forced to leave.

@aninditasen As far as I know, every company cheats their employees. It doesn't matter if it's American workers or Chinese worker or Indian workers. Companies cheat them to make more money. When they lose enough employees to make it not profitable for them, the company closes and leaves that country.

The companies lure the Indians and cheat them once they accept the job. No doubt their employees quit jobs often. Many companies have dwindled and have left. If they don't follow the laws of India they have to leave.

@DaddyEvil That's a fact but at least the Indian companies fear the Indian laws as they can't run away from their country. So they negotiate with the consent of their employees. Employees leave the moment they break the rules and also protest and drag them to the court of law. The result is faster than the foreign companies.

This would not be called a discrimination in true sense. It depends on who is your client or customer. Mostly there are from other countries. And customer satisfaction is the key to any successful business. If the clients are Indians, they would ask for their timings to be followed.

Rarely does that happen rather they(Indians)have to wait for their suitable timings. It's the same thing with Indian companies having outsourced in foreign countries. They (Indian companies have to adhere to their timings).

@arunima25 When Indians are the clients the foreign companies rarely adjust. No doubt prices of goods which are finished in foreign countries but whose raw materials are taken from India are still high in India.

@aninditasen It's not the origin of company that matters. It depends on who is the client. Client holds supreme position in any business transaction because they are paying for the job.

I think we have no other choice than to adapt. Many people are employed by these foreign companies. It's the same thing over here.

The employed citizens in India think the same but when they fall sick they either have to leave the job or file a legal suit against the company. Working against their sleep cycle make them inefficient and I think every country that is facing such problems should frame some rules to protect the health of their citizens.

I understand but they are making huge profits by creating employments and in return giving our country a pack of sick citizens which our government should look into. If they adhere to the country's time zone it won't affect the health of their employees.

My son is an attorney and just hired someone from one of his offices in India. They worked out the best time to communicate with each other. My brother had businesses in China and Mexico. He woke up early to do business with them. It can be done. Many businesses in the USA also have night workers and night shifts. People adjust if they want to earn a living.

I worked in a Korean company 15 years ago. I started work at 8 a.m. and finished work at 10 p.m. after two and a half months, I resigned. It's terrible,Many Chinese companies also work 12 hours a day

I know that's very tiring but here in India they have to stay up at night without sleeping if they are working in a forgein company.
