It is that time of year

October is when the temperatures begin dropping where we live. That means all the lovely, hardy plants need new homes indoors.
I have a friend who must have a handful of green thumbs. She is always giving away plants.
She gave me the plants in the picture this week. They are Kalanchoes. One is definitely red, the other may be white. They are lovely and healthy, so I thought I would share.

They are lovely.
We really haven't the space for plants in here, but I'd seriously considered it when we first moved in. I'm fairly certain, though, that they'd get taken out by a galloping cat at 3 a.m.

@wilsongoddard They really like the airplane plant. It looks like grass.

@GardenGerty Nibble, nibble? Crash! Bang!?
Here, one would nibble (and regurgitate). The other would most likely go running into the plant headfirst and send it flying everywhere.

This is a type that can take a lot of abuse and survive. (ask me how I know) I have even had them freeze in the past and come back. They are a succulent type of plant. I bet they would love where you live.

Oh wow, then they should do well outside but not indoors, I don't get enough light for them in here.

@GardenGerty Yes, as long as we don't get a 2-4 day freeze like last year. One of my begonias from the year before last finally popped back up a couple of weeks ago. It's not huge like it used to be, but I still have it!! Win!

They look delicate but are very durable. They often are sold in our grocery stores in lots of pretty colors. Red is the original though.
