The house renovation cost is mostly covered by First sister and her husband. They made the deal and everything with the contractor. She would transfer the money for the payment into my account and I would give it to the contractor. Yesterday she called me, asking the progress. She asked me to send pictures. Turn out the contractor asked for 50% of the final payment. The work is still not completed and there are many things not being done. The final payment would be made full once it's all done and they're satisfied with the work. So she told me she's not paying until they get the job done. Fine by me, I'm just the messenger. The workers work since morning today. Maybe they plan to complete everything today.

Hope they complete the construction work today itself. It's a good decision not to pay fully before they complete everything.

That has to be the worst business to get in. Workers suck, the amount of money in costs, then you get bad leaders all can go bad quick. Its one business you have to stay on top of it the real reward is if people actually get done what they want done. The worst thing this country ever did was showcase how you could rob people into jacking up prices. You welcome world why your rent is so damn high. The positive is lets freaking stop this nonsense, we all know the game.

I think the contractor already used up the payment we gave him before. Which was like 90% or more from the total payment. He might used it to cover expenses for his other projects too.

They need the first payment for material. And we also gave them enough for that. The last payment supposedly the profit from the work.

It is a slippery slope giving contractors money before they complete the job. I had one here who I paid because he was 99 percent done...Guess what? he never completed the last part and didn't put the thresholds in...He live s in Maryland, not close to here, I knew I would never see him again.

I think he live around here but I really don't know this guy. But yes, it's better not to pay them a lot in case of situation like this.

That would depend on the contract or agreement we made before starting the work. As for this, a part would be made before the job's done. It's for material.

Your sister makes sense. One has to go according to the contract and make rest payment only when the work is finished in time and done upto expectations. Hope all goes well
