Always Carry A LOUD Whistle

I don't own a phone... pretty much because every time I go out... one of my kids has a phone or hubby does. But, when I go out alone for my walks every day, I do carry a whistle... and it is a loud one!!!! Hubby always makes fun of me, saying that he has a phone, but today we were out together and he stepped onto some mud on the sidewalk and completely lost his balance and fell. What if he had lost consciousness and I couldn't get to his phone... there was always the whistle. I hope I never have to use it, but it would have been something to draw attention if there was no other option. Not a good start to our day... He took all his weight on his hand and they are quite the mess. Luckily, that was the worst of it and we were just two houses away from home. It could have been a lot worse!

I am sorry for your husband, a loud whistle is a good idea, to have in addition to the phone. Up in the woods who would hear my whistle.

Good point. I'm in a village, but I would definitely want a phone if I was out in the woods! Scares me even to think about that!!!

@Hate2Iron I never go walking in the woods alone, but should my husband have a problem while we are walking there, I want to be sure to be able to call for help.

He bent his fingers back when he fell, and then ripped off some skin. At least nothing was broken. Scared me silly!

@Hate2Iron even though he didn't break anything it still sounds painful. Glad it wasn't worse

A whistle is useful when people near could hear you. Maybe it’s time to get a phone.

I'm so sorry your hubby fell. I would always carry the whistle AND the phone. :-)
