My hands are like sandpaper. I had to clean the stove.

At noon I had some steamed fish for lunch and went to my room for a small nap. The nap was not so small and I had forgotten to turn off the gas.
I woke up with a strong odor coming from the kitchen. The liquid from the fish had evaporated and was starting to burn. So I started cleaning up the pot (boiling water first) and several pruducts on the stove.
I let is be for a while but I had to clean it up before it got dark. Now the stove is declared clean (I´ll give it another mopping with detergent tomorrow) and the pot is almost clean filled with sudsy water in the sink.
My hands had an awful chlorine smell after all this but thankfully I have a very nice liquid soap near the sink. It had apples and honey or so it says. For the moment it took off the chlorine smell from my hands. And I light up some incense to take away the burned smell.
Do these things happen to you?

I hate it when that happens. It is so much work after that.

@marguicha I agree that it will be a messy thing to handle.

@marguicha I've never been able to get used to wearing gloves although I wear them if we're making something.

I have to wear gloves to clean Marguicha.
I am allergic to all those cleaning things.
Sorry that happened to you.
If it does happen, I use toothpaste and peroxide to get the smell off of my hands.

I think that I should try to learn to use them. I have gloves but I don´t use them.

I did that one, years ago, when I was doing an apricot jam. Nothing much happened except that the jam was thicker and darker.

@marguicha I am glad that’s all that happened.
I had nothing on the stove.

Fortunately no. They are more likely to happen to my husband. I'm glad that the results weren't more serious.

Quite a few years ago, I was attempting a new recipe and the stove caught on fire. I have never used the stove again. I use the microwave, crockpot, counter top burner.

My stove has never caught fire. It must have been a shock.
