I think I’ve entered my second teenage

Research has shown that teenagers actually undergo physiological changes to their body clock which makes it harder for them to wake up early in the mornings. Nevertheless, most schools still start relatively early and of course there’s the time taken to get there.
I used to think I was good at getting up in the mornings - but maybe I was just better than most of my friends. Nowadays though I have found that I’m just not.
Big One has to be up at 7 am in order to get the school bus, for school that starts at 8:40. So of course we all have to be up to help her sort out some lunch etc. And it’s getting more and more of a struggle as the days get shorter.
The worst aspect of life at this latitude is that we are now at the start of 6 months of having to get up in the dark, which I don’t enjoy. Six whole months of dragging myself out of bed in the dark! I’m not a badger!!

I'm an early morning person but my granddaughter who used to wake me at 5am as a toddler now finds it hard to get out of bed before 9am these days. It's true what they say, teenagers just love to stay in bed.

@Fleura Haha, I should but it would put her in a bad mood and that would be worse for me!

I have the opposite issue. I am generally awake long before I should be. This morning, it was 4:30.
The cats like that sort of schedule, though. It means that they are likely to have breakfast before 6. Then, of course, they'll likely have their post-breakfast nap shortly.

@Fleura That would make sense if you've been running a sleep deficit.

My fishies can't tell time but they want breakfast at 6 am anyway! A lot of the time I'm still talking on myLot, watching a YT video or reading at 6 am... I get up, feed the fishies, take my morning meds and then go walking with Pretty before going to bed.

@Fleura I just have to take them twice a day. And take them at regular intervals. So I take them at 6 am and again at 6 pm.

@fleura I found it quite disconcerting when I moved to this latitude from a much more southerly one (13 below the equator) when I was 14 and arrived in school each day before sun-up. Formerly my school day started in dazzling sunshine at 06.30.

My granddaughter who is 15 now would oversleep every morning if didn't wake her up.Over here the days begin to shorten after the summer solstice.
