Funny how musicians can find different areas of the body to use as inspiration for a song title. They use the senses like your eyes, limbs like arms and legs, and other pieces of your anatomy from head to toe. Quite a creative way to come up with a tune! So, this trivia series contains songs with some musical "body art," hope you enjoy them...
When it comes to listening to music "Eye" just can't get enough of songs with this body part in the title. One thing about "Eyes" they are very descriptive in so many ways. Here's a song by a favorite duo of mine named Loggins and Messina who ran into some "Angry Eyes."
Hope you enjoyed the song. So "Eye" will now turn it over to you to come up with the name of some more of these tunes...
Whodunnit- Name those songs and artists:
(Remember words in quotations can provide hints to the music trivia answers)
1. This song from 1970 was about a girl who drives the guy wild but he can't have her all to himself. As the singer proclaims in the tune's lyrics "she's got something to move my soul, And she knows, I'd love to love her, But she lets me down every time, Can't make her mine, She's no one's lover." This women is so alluring to him he exclaims to her "You got to love me, Got to love me tonight." The song spent 18 weeks on the charts, longer even than their greatest hit, "Midnight Confessions". This band was extremely successful charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 doing so a total of 21 times between 1965-75.
Fun fact: This song was the band's favorite one to write and record.
-Do you know the name of this pop/rock band and their song about a woman with those "appealing eyes?"
2. This song from their 1971 LP "Aqualung" was recorded by this "British Progressive Rock" band and is about a prostitute named "Mary." The "Mary" in this song is a good person reacting to bad circumstances. The idea of the song is that even people considered undesirable are all God's creations and possess a good side to their character. There is another character mentioned in this tune called "Aqualung" who it is believed is one of Mary's customers. The band followed this successful concept album with another one called "Thick As A Brick," unique in that it had only 1 song on it, a continuous piece of music spanning over 43 minutes in length. Over their career the group's musical style shifted from album to album from blues-rock, to folk-rock to progressive-rock to hard rock. Some of their well-known tunes include "Locomotive Breath," "Living In The Past," "Too Old To Rock n' Roll To Young To Die," and "Bungle In The Jungle." Final "Song clue": when one suffers from a condition where the "eyes do not line up correctly" they are called "________________." Put it "together with the girl's name" in the song and you have the tune!
-Do you know the name of this British Rock band and their strangely titled eye song?
3. Although this song has been recorded many times this group's #1 cover of it in "1958" is considered the definitive version. Another song recorded by this American vocal group was "Twilight Time" which also charted at #1. A third #1 for these singers was "Only You" a true R&B classic! They are one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era.
Here are a few additional hints which might help you solve the song and artist... A "puff cloud" from a cigarette is called "__________" and it can really be bad if it "gets in your "_______s." A Chinese restaurant dish has the same name as this group. Fill in this blank and you've got the group's name Poo Poo (The) "______________________s"
Fun fact: In 1974, Ringo Starr covered this song for his album Goodnight Vienna at the suggestion of John Lennon.
-Do you remember the name of this vocal group and their song with eyes in the title?
Ok, as Johnny Nash would say lets "see those clues clearly now" when solving the song and artist answers. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as Randy Newman would say, "You've Got A Friend In Me."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with another music trivia quiz in 2 weeks. Stay tuned...

1. I loved Midnight Confessions by The Grass Roots and wasn't crazy about Temptaion Eyes.
2. I'm not even going to try to guess this song and group as I don't think this group appealed to me though once you reveal it then I will remember at least the group.

@dgobucks226 You know what they say about grass. It's always greener on the other side. However, Midnight Confessions is my favorite grass song.

1. I’ll make a grass roots effort to not succumb to the temptation to eye your song here. PF Sloan started that band.
2. I had Ian Anderson on my list of favorite Scottish musicians. Would Mary be so contrary if she looked cross-eyed at her garden? It would stand to reason she would, since Jethro Tull was an agriculturist.
3. I love to spin that group’s platters all the time. I have three of their songs on my 100 favorites list. I’m not blowing smoke in your eyes or face, I love ‘em! Did you know Hawkeye spoofed that song in an episode of M*A*S*H as, “They asked me how I knew her brassiere was blue….”

You left me speechless with those replies
Well almost. PF Sloan wrote some terrific songs one being the controversial "Eve of Destruction" which effectively ended his career in the pop music business. Although it became a #1 hit for Barry McGuire in 1965.
When it comes to Tull's music called me Thick as a Brick.
Leave it to a great show like MASH and Pierce to honor a great tune!
Thanks for the additional trivia always welcome with anticipation...
