Handing out free black caviar

I saw a video on YouTube from former US Master Chef contestant Nick Digiovanni where he was driving around in his car handing out small jars of Osetra black caviar.
Some people declined it while many actually took it. From those that took it Nick asked some of them to try it on camera. If they agreed he opened the jar for them and gave them a small spoon to try it. They got to keep the rest. Surprisingly, many didn't cringe from the taste.
Watching the video, especially when Nick opened a large jar of it to show us, made my mouth water. And I developed a strong craving for some black caviar. I would eat it right now on top of a Russian crepe.
I love black caviar, either on top of a Russian crepe or on top of fresh buttered white bread. If I don't want to eat bread I put it on top of a slice of cucumber or a Finn thin crisp.
I wonder if the Russian store near me still sells black caviar and, if they do, how good and expensive it actually is.
Would you take the black caviar? Would you try it?

If you have a real allergy to seafood then of course you wouldn't try it. But would you try it if you didn't have a seafood allergy?

@lovebuglena — truthfully, no. I don’t cry over the seafood allergy because I don’t really care for the taste of seafood.

@lovebuglena It has a fancy name...vishy....or vishi...something...that I can't spell. Perhaps one of our European friends could chip in.

@lovebuglena Yep. I love (cut and paste because I'm lazy) Vichyssoise.

I don't think I've ever tried cold potato soup.

Black is my favorite. I used to have it a lot when I was growing up back in Belarus.

@RebeccasFarm That's better than the red one. A few times I had white caviar from Whole Foods. I don't remember what fish it was from. It was pretty good.

I am a great fan of both red and black caviar I would have loved getting a free jar and would have had no problem tasting it It is so disappointing that caviar is so very expensive

@lovebuglena when I lived in Latvia they sold imitation caviar in jars that was of course not as great as the real thing but good enough to have and not too expensive I loved that but I have not found any good imitation caviar here

@RasmaSandra I've seen some jarred black caviar a few times in Home Goods or TJMaxx. Even in a supermarket recently. Wonder if real and what fish it was from. It wasn't even in the fridge. I was not drawn to try it.

Top notch caviar (black or red) is really expensive. You can get less expensive ones but they won't be as good.
Recently, hubby bought red caviar. I think it was a pound. Paid $54.99 for it. That ain't cheap. It wasn't that great though.

I doubt that I would try it. I rarely eat fish, although I like clam strips, crab cakes, scallops, etc.

Some can say it is an acquired taste.
