Along with the song with the “fly” songs I’m countdown favorites that have an airplane theme to them. Now, @JamesHxstatic didn’t ask for this one, but he’s stuck with it.
His discussion about airports is what prompted this to begin with, so it is a logical companion piece. This song, however…..
#8: Christmas At the Airport - Nick Lowe
While he may have been Johnny Cash’s former stepson-in-law (he was married to Carlene Carter for ten years), fear not, it’s not “Nick Lowe goes country” here.
While the thought of this song — flights canceled because of snow — might be sad, this is actually very funny. Following the lead of Dick Feller’s song “Making the Best of a Bad Situation,” Lowe uses the empty airport to his advantage, turning the baggage carousel into a ride and getting a medical check-up with the security equipment (“I took a set of x-rays, they came out pretty well”).
One of the times I saw Nick Lowe (with Los Straitjackets) he did this song. Most of the people who don’t like Christmas (looking at a certain cat slave in Olney who’s about to turn green
) will LOVE the anti-Christmas frivolity that Lowe presents.

I love it! Great tune and those rhythmic variations were great too. I never heard this one before and did not know Nick Lowe either.

His biggest hit was “Cruel to Be Kind,” back in 1979.

They always wear them when they’re performing. I have a photo of Chris Sprague (the drummer) and me together, and he’s not wearing it. They aren’t “Kiss-y” about it (remember how Kiss was in the early years about never being seen without makeup).

@CarolDM — he’s a sweetheart. I got to know him when he played drums with Deke Dickerson.

Christmas at the Airport must be pretty crowded with everyone traveling. Nope. Don't know this one.

Quite a nice little song there Four Walls. I had not heard this one, but I do remember Nick Lowe.
No airports for me however for quite a while.
