To combat anxiety and depression I started making things every day. Even days I work I try to make one thing a day as it really relaxes me and gives me a sense of accomplishing something. Today I made these! The large is a huge 15 inches and I love him. A gift for my mother and she loves him too . Anyone else feeling the festive spirit yet??

I struggle with anxiety and depression as well. It can be difficult. I take medications everyday for both. I usually take them at night time and I sleep better with my medications as well. They are adorable. I don't know how to make things. They are so cute though. I'm done Christmas shopping, I watched the Christmas movie "Elf" the other day. It is my favorite Christmas movie. With will Ferrell, a great actor. Anyway, Yes I have been feeling the festive spirit. Hope you have a great day.

It is one of my favourite movies too! If you don't have any hobbies you should find one you're interested in. It really helps :)

@GemmaMadelaine Great to know. I love movies, and baths. Baths are so relaxing and movies can be so much fun. I don't really have any hobbies. Perhaps I shall try.

I am in a sort of, kind of, but not complete and total Christmas mood, and the reason for that is there haven't been enough wintry mixes and flurries or snowfalls yet. But as soon as Central New York starts behaving itself more appropriately for the season, my festive mood will kick in.

@GemmaMadelaine Ah. You do a worthy job. Could I be really intrusive in my line of questioning. It's related to your occupation and how you deal with people in real life.

They are cute. I've been making things occasionally. I'd share the pictures but I can't find them. I've mostly been working with wood/pyrography to burn personalised designs onto coasters. I did three which are going to be stocking fillers for my husband and sons. I've done most of my Christmas shopping, but having trouble with finding something for a couple of people. We have a few birthdays to think about before Christmas but I'm sure I'll get well into the festive spirit soon enough

It's interesting to me that you find getting 'Christmassy' helps with your anxiety and mood. I have heard that it is a difficult time of year for folks and Christmas can actually exacerbate anxiety and depression. You are wise to keep busy and creative. I'm taking up knitting again - not so much to combat depression, but to beat the bad habit of too much surfing - that is really bad for your health, for mine, anyway, hours and hours spent, no, wasted. I'm also trying to teach myself to paint . For me, anxiety is often associated with lack of control - or my life spinning out of control. The best way for me to cope with that, is building and sticking with a good quality routine. When I follow a good routine, I really feel a lot better. Interestingly, I found a scriptural thought on just that idea: 'To what extent we have made progress, let us go on walking orderly in this same routine.”—PHILIPPIANS 3:16. Great advice! not just 'routine' but 'orderly', which suggests a good quality routine, not just habit, into which we usually insert BAD habits.

Those are really cute. I enjoy sewing and sometimes knit or crochet or embroider items. It's relaxing and I have that feeling of accomplishment you mention.
