Question: "Can you tell me one of your school rules that does not make sense at all?"

One of the school rules in my high school days is to clean the toilets of both girls and boys if committing punishable crimes at school, such as late, eating food inside the classroom, cheating, etc. I am just thinking it is a harsh punishment for students to endure. Do you think it is an appropriate punishment for the students? Any school rules that you do not like during your school days? Image Credit: memegenerator.net

I cannot recall of any. This poem sums it all of my good memories SCHOOL TIMES Destiny takes us we know not where But we carry our memories there School times, classmates loads of fun Exams done accolades won. Driving teachers round the bend Teasing, jeering it had no end “Stand on the bench” they’d scream away But from them we would run away Lunch time spent in running around In the baking sun till the ball was found The recess over, back to the class Striving for those marks to pass Some were always upto pranks Competing for those tempting ranks Pushing prodding to come out first If one failed the tears would burst Classmates are a wonderful gift Try your best stop the drift Teachers, masters ever so kind Tough it was to leave them behind So many years of endless joy Fun and frolic boy oh boy! Dramas, rehearsals, singing galore I wish those years were here once more

Getting late to civics class in high school merited a paddle to the offender's behind by the teacher. Cleaning toilets of both males and females would be useful in the military but not high school.

Ooops, that physical punishment. But yes, I remember my third grade Arithmetic teacher Mr. Limpin slapping the hands of his pupils who got zero in quizzes. Reflects the teacher actually. That was in St. Joseph's parochial school where I studied my primary years.

@Deepizzaguy Whoah! I think it was not a good thing to be paddled. I do hate cleaning the toilets at that time. I only experienced my teacher pulling my hair up in front of my hair. She was been complained at that time.

I also remembered that girls cannot do these things, too. That makes them keep whining about not being able to follow the trendsetters in the market before.

In my school, groups of juniors and seniors are assigned each day to oversee that the canteen in clean after recess and lunch breaks. But there were janitors who thoroughly mop the floors and the comfort rooms. One school rule am very much against with is the wearing of black or white hair pins, ribbons and pony tails so that the decors would jibe with the school uniform. Grrrrr. That's curtailment of freedom of expression.

@Shavkat It was the rule of Sister Rosalina, the principal, because she wants everything uniformed. Later on, I learned she left the convent for America.

@eileenleyva It is really undeniable being proper for sisters and priests to be a bit strict with their uniforms.

I can feel you with the accessories that need to match the uniforms. I had experienced during my high school days that it is a Catholic school that needs to follow the rules strictly.

Students who were punished were sent home with a note for the parents. Corporal punishments were not allowed. School rules that I did not like? Being obliged to wear a uniform.

Since I also studied in a private school, I need to wear the prescribed uniforms from Monday to Thursday. Good thing, we have wash day on Fridays. I only experienced corporal punishment when I was in primary school and my teacher was reported.

@Shavkat We had no "wash day", the uniform was white and we were supposed to wear it clean every day. Mom washed mine twice a week.

Well, I guess such a punishment might be a deterrent in the future.
