Watch for errant cricket balls

There is no caravan park in our former hometown in Donnybrook, Western Australia but caravans can park next to the oval and can use the facilities there. The oval is used for football and cricket and I was amused by the sign warning people of ‘errant cricket balls’. It makes it sound as though the balls have a mind of their own – but perhaps it seems that way sometimes.

Well better warned than sorry in case a cricket ball might want to smack someone in the head,

@RasmaSandra Another risk could be fast flying balls breaking glass panes or damaging them!

@JudyEv Glass Panes sometimes used to get broken even with cricket play with Tennis balls. At times, the playing students used to br reprimanded by the Principal. Yet now I see lesser interest in cricket in schools these days. May be smaller cities and towns have people having more interest in cricket than in the bigger ones.

Maybe some might park their vans a bit further away.

@DocAndersen She is talking about Football or the Soccer- whose next world cup is due in Qatar in 2022. Think Pele, Maradona, Christiano Ronaldo!

People are getting "stupider". They need to be warned about everything that common sense used to take care of.

@JudyEv Never heard of Midsomer Murders - is that a popular one? We had the Bollywood movie "Lagaan" that showed British Raj Officers having High Tea after the cricket match and perhaps in other series as well.

You sometimes see such scenes in English movies or TV series. Midsomer Murders were keen on their cricket.

It should be errant Big hitters in Cricket. Balls obviously cannot be errant by themselves! Yet the ones hitting the cricket balls far and wide would be very skilled and passionate like David Warner or Matthew Hayden!!

There is probably one day a week when they play cricket so you'd have to be unlucky to get hit.

Better to be careful, no matter what "balls" they are referring to.

It could indeed. Luckily they only play on the weekends but it would still be sensible to park a little further away.
