Fear not: if you don’t like the country music song, there’s another side to this dual countdown. And, for those who are new to my countdowns and are wondering how I can post a Jim Reeves song and this, it’s easy: I love both songs. That’s why they’re at #2 on the respective lists. Here’s today’s airplane-themed tune. #2: Silver Bird - Mark Lindsay One of those coincidences: former Paul Revere and the Raiders member Keith Allison passed away a couple of days ago, and now here’s the former lead vocalist of Paul Revere and the Raiders showing up. I have to thank my brother for my love of this one. He had the 45 of this song when he was 16, and I’d hear it frequently coming from his room. As a result, today’s two countdowns feature two songs I grew up with, and still love dearly. I love this song so much more than his other big hit (“Arizona”). And I agree: he really has a good voice.

Yes, sort of. He was the lead vocalist on it. It was supposed to be a solo song, but Columbia Records decided to put it out as a Paul Revere & the Raiders song. It was their last hit.
