Highlight of my sister-in-law's garden

We spent the night and a very enjoyable evening at my sister-in-law’s and this morning I took a couple of photos in her garden. In the top left is a wax flower or hoya. My mother was a great gardener and very patient. She waiting three years before her hoya bloomed for her but after than it had a great many flowers every year. Top right is a view of the front garden but it looks much better in real life. It’s what we’d call here a cottage garden. Lower left is a very pretty rose which is blooming near the front gate and lower right a cute little garden ornament. It’s funny how a nose, eyes and mouth can create a myriad of expressions. Maybe it’s meant to hold a mosquito coil.

Are you referring to the figure? Perhaps it's supposed to resemble a pumpkin. I didn't think of that.

It takes a very long time to flower though. For some, it would be worth waiting for.

Your mother was lucky with the hoya, here we have to wait from 5 up to 7 years before a plant gives the first bloom. I decided not to buy one. The garden of your sister in law is beautiful.

@JudyEv I know that is from a minimum of 5 but most often it is a 7 years waiting.

So it's common? I actually thought it was 7 years she waited but I thought 'no-one will believe that' so I made it 3 years.

The family had a working bee on her front garden many years ago. We laid down a nice paved, curved garden path.
