Someone Trying to Break in Our House

Last night , I was still up at around 12am when I heard a commotion outside our door a loud thud and then our dog barking and then squeaking. I forgot about it in the morning but when I went outside our sturdy dustpan had been smashed. It must have been the tool used to hurt our dog. I am feeling anxious about the incident.

I'm sorry. I tripped when I went to knock on your door. I hope your dog is okay. And that nobody tries to break in again.

Thankfully he is okay. It would have been horrifying if he had been seriously harmed.

That doesn't sound very nice. You should make sure you have strong windows and doors that are hard to break into and maybe get a burglar alarm, or just something that makes it look like a burglar alarm. Get a light at your doors that are motion sensitive so that if anyone comes up to your door the light automatically comes on. If the person coming to the door is up to no good the light coming on and shining on him for anyone to see him will hopefully scare him off.
