Never myLot while baking cookies

For our breakfast at church in the morning, I baked some peanut butter blossom cookies (peanut butter cookies with a chocolate Hershey's kiss on each one.) I had leftover cookie dough, so I put two pans of regular peanut butter cookies in the oven, set the timer, and myLotted right through two timers. Dag gone, I sure hated to burn those cookies! I salvaged a few and put them in the freezer, but I should have learned my lesson. VICKI: DO NOT GET ON THE COMPUTER WHEN YOU HAVE ANYTHING COOKING!!! I actually have a batch of snowball cookies baking right now, but my cell is right in front of me with a timer set and the timer on the stove set. I absolutely do not want to ruin those cookies. They're the first two batches of several more to come, I hope. I plan to get different kinds of cookies, candy, etc in the freezer so I can make up goody tins for the kids at Christmas. I better run, the cookies should be ready in exactly 3 minutes and 52 seconds. Have you ever burned food?

I like to sit in the kitchen on my laptop when I am baking, I’m sure the cookies in the oven will be fine.

I always set an alarm when I am at my computer and something in the oven or on the stove. Now a dough is resting, I am making the Saint Lucia buns for tomorrow.

@shaggin On second thought, I'm not sure about freezing the chocolate kisses. But I know the peanutbutter cookies freeze well.

I've been pretty lucky and not burned anything over the years. I wish I could make some Christmas cookies. I have nothing but time and would be able to make a lot of different kinds.

@1creekgirl I could make cookies sitting at a card table; but hubs would have to get out all the ingredients, etc. He has back problems too.

That's easy to forget since it takes a while for them to bake.

The times I have burned food is mostly if I get my head stuck in a book. Then everything else just goes out the window.

@1creekgirl I stopped reading books for some years because I'd get involved and forget about everything else. It was a problem at school too.

I have, I put a pot of water on the stove to boil for tea and forgot about. When I went into the kitchen my pot was dry and burned black. I could never scrub all the black off.

@1creekgirl I’ve wondered, but since it was an empty pot. I don’t know if it could cause a fire.

I burn stuff all the time. I like some food to be overcooked so accidentally burning it happens a lot here.
