It’s time for another song that Bob Dylan wrote but I like better by someone else! And, like yesterday’s song, this is one that I grew up listening to but didn’t know until I was an adult that Dylan wrote. Waddaya know! #4: It Ain’t Me, Babe - Johnny Cash You were probably thinking there’d be no country music here. Ha! In fact, a friend of mine won an award at the country music conference for writing the information on the Bob Dylan display at the Country Music Hall of Fame! I truly look for Dylan to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as a songwriter eventually. (Not with the next songwriter induction, though: I want that to go to Dallas Frazier, who’s over 80 and in poor health.) Anyway, Dylan was on Johnny Cash’s ABC television series. Cash also won a Grammy for the liner notes to Nashville Skyline. So it stands to reason that Cash admired Dylan from early in Dylan’s career. This recording dates to 1965, showing that Cash was in tune with Dylan’s writing very quickly. There’s a famous saying attributed to Duke Ellington: “There are only two kinds of music: good and bad.” Cash was all about good music. Took me right back Four Walls..the place I want to be. Thank you my friend
The Turtles were one of the more enjoyable American pop groups of the 1960s, moving from folk-rock inspired by the Byrds to a sparkling fusion of Zombies-ins...

That’s a great thing about music: it has that power to transport you. Glad it did!!!

The Turtles covered that song so well I thought it was their own. And that Dylan tune inspired Sonny Bono to go out and write and record his own "Babe" song.

I wonder if it's the Turtles' version that I'm remembering?
