Our New Year's Plans Have Been Canceled

We were supposed to go away to the mountains in North Carolina for New Year's weekend with my husband's son and his family. There were going to be about 14 of us altogether and we were going to go out for a fancy dinner on New Year's Eve, But we got the call today that his son has come down with Covid. He had to go to the hospital and they tested him, but he is back home now. His daughter is also sick but I don't know if it's Covid. So our trip has been canceled. My husband is disappointed. I am okay with it though. We will try to do something special here at home just the 2 of us on New Year's Eve. I think we should cook up one of the steaks I just got him for Christmas from Omaha Steaks. I would be happy with pasta. We will see what happens. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?

@prasuns Thank you. I am sure we will. It's just that the change in plans is a bit unsettling.

Ok dear. It happens. Right now our safety is important from the virus. We will be at home too, no such plans

@Rashnag I feel as though we were getting back into the swing of things here in my part of the US and weren't so worried about getting Covid. But it's coming back around again and with this new strain, I guess we do need to be careful.

I hope the 2 of you have a good time by yourself. That is what my husband and I will be doing.

@jstory07 I am sure we will. It will just be a different celebration than we planned but that's okay.

I very much hope your relatives don't have covid. That wouldn't be good at all.

Thank you. He is already feeling better today, just very tired. He will have to quarantine for 14 days.

@nela13 Yes, we were very worried about him yesterday. Part of the problem was that he was dehydrated but got an IV yesterday and was drinking a lot today.

I'm sorry to hear that your plans are cancelled. It definitely can be disappointing, but they happen. I'm sure you'll find something to do. We don't have plans for New Year's Eve. For the moment, just a quiet weekend at home.

My plans are not too exciting. I'm going to attempt to finish this year's journal, watch the ball drop, and start 2022's journal at 12:01. Then I'll go to bed.

We had already decided to celebrate at home and only the two of us. There are too many Covid cases right now, we do not feel safe meeting people.

Wishing a speedy recovery for the family. I didn't make any plans for the New Year, I felt fairly sure the numbers would be climbing here with our Governments inaction,
