My goal for 2021 was to read 55 books.
After I finish a poetry book I am reading my total books read for 2021 will be 44 books.
I did not reach my goal.
But I still read a lot of books—poetry books and novels—which I am happy about.
Since I didn’t reach my goal this year I will keep the same goal for 2022.
How many books did you read this year?
Any books you’d recommend from those you read?

My Kindle app says I've read 99 books this year... Of course it doesn't take into account that nine of the "books" I've read are the complete works of various authors. (Edgar Rice Burroughs' compendium contains 24 Tarzan books, 10 books in the Barsoom series, 7 books in the Pellucidar series, 5 books in the Venus series, 3 books in the Caspak series, 3 books in the Moon series and many stand-alone novels.) How would you count them?

@lovebuglena Yes, but it counts them all as one book. It has bugged me since I saw it was doing that.

@DaddyEvil It would bug me too. A lot. I wonder why it does that.

That's many series and would not be so easy to count.

I had a bad year and didn't get time to read many books this year. In 2022, I am going to try and read one book a month. I am going to read more because regular reading improves brain connectivity, increases your vocabulary decreases stress and prevents cognitive decline. Happy reading :)

A book a month is not bad, especially if you do not have a lot of time to devote to reading.

Oh I have forgotten all about these benefits. Thanks for reminding me. Something to make me even more motivated to read books.
But even without that it is the enjoyment and pleasure I get from reading a good story. It is like my companion. I have read somewhere that it adds 2 years to our life span.

Don’t know how many I read this I don’t keep tract. I do have a lot of ebooks on my phone many of which I’m sure most people wouldn’t be interested in reading paranormal romance or smut isn’t what everyone likes

@lovebuglena I really don’t care to know how many I did or didn’t read it’s not that big of deal for me. I read in my free time to read. Some of my reading apps to track your hours of reading and give you points which you can use to buy the books where the writer is getting paid. Pretty much they are all unknown writers or have a small group of fans that watch out for there next story or book. Some even make it on Amazon.

@ShyBear88 It's fun for me to set a goal and try to reach it. Gets me to read more books this way also.

I have an account on Goodreads so that's how I know how many books I read. And Goodreads is where they have the Goodreads reading challenge every year. You set a goal and then when you read a book you select that you are reading it and when you are done you select that you finished the book. That's how it knows how many books you read.

@RebeccasFarm That's a lot of discussions there. I wonder how many I read.

Here's a different question then. How many discussions did you read this year?
That counts as reading I think.

I like Circe. I think I have read 10books in 2021. Seven Husband of Evelyn Hugo is another one of my favorites.

I haven't kept track of them..If I had to estimate, I would say 6. I am lately famous for starting books and not finishing them. I keep thinking...some day...

@lovebuglena No, I like them..but I guess these days I prefer to read on the Kindle and these are real books. For one thing too, they are in the car..I need to bring them in the house. I keep thinking if I get stuck in a long traffic jam I could read. I think I should bring them in though...otherwise i will maybe never read them.

Maybe one of these days you will finish them. How come you don't? Are you not into the books you start?

That's okay. I think setting a goal makes me read more books. And it's kind of fun to challenge myself to read more and get to a specific goal.

I was really bad this year. I didn't read any. I have The Stand by Stephen King to read (huge book), a sequel to a movie that I really liked and a whole bookcase of other books.

Hope you get to read it soon. Good thing you own the book.
