I Got a Surprise Video Call Last Night

Last night I was sitting on my couch responding to some myLot friends, and all of a sudden I got a video call on my Facebook account. I was surprised because I have never done a video call on FB. The person that was calling me was a crew member I met onboard the Enchanted Princess cruise ship in November. She was very sweet and we exchanged contact information and have been keeping in touch about 1 time per week via Facebook Messenger since the beginning of December. The call was fun. She showed me her room and caught me up on a few other crew members I remembered, and I showed her my dog and our Christmas tree, which is coming down today. I really don't like video calls or Zoom calls or meetings, but she was calling me from the middle of the sea so I felt like I couldn't ignore her call. Do you like to use Zoom or do video calls?

We don't often use them - just occasionally to talk to our son in Ireland. We talk a lot but don't usually bother with 'live' camera shots. It's nice that you keep in touch with your friend.

@Kouponkaren I'd prefer to just be talking too.

@JudyEv I guess I am just old-fashioned. I just like to talk on the phone, not have to have people see me!

I have never tried a video call and have to admit not being keen on answering the phone at the best of times

@Ronrybs I don't like talking on the phone either and hate video calls. But I felt like it would be rude not to answer her call.

I hate using zoom, but I'm okay with video calls in general.

@kaylachan Arent they very similar? You have to see and interact with people on both.

@xFiacre I would also hate it if I was forced to use it. You said "had" so does that mean you don't work anymore or don't need to use it anymore?

@Kouponkaren I’ve just been spared the awfulness since we are now able to meet in person. It was a live saver for some and some just loved it.

I don't use zoom hardly at all, neither does any of my family except once in awhile for a special birthday or holiday when we are apart. We usually facetime, which the grands all enjoy doing. They love to carry the phone around and show me things.

@Kouponkaren The littles all seem to enjoy it. Then later sometime I will just get to talk to Mom or Dad the old fashioned way, on the phone.

@MarieCoyle Well to me that is the same. Any time someone can see you on a call...that's what I don't like to be involved in. Maybe if I had grandkids it would be different.

I have only done video chat through Facebook once. I am not a big fan of it.

It's a wonderful surprise. I only talk to my brother's children and my aunts via viber calls.
