A cold Monday. At least there’s no sn*w. There is more music, though, thanks to @RasmaSandra ‘s request for songs with “star” in the title. @TheHorse knew this one was coming….and here it is! #4: Lord of the Starfields - Bruce Cockburn Let’s go back to 1980. I went to Orlando to see Warren Zevon, and the opening act was Bruce Cockburn. At the time he was riding the heels of his “hit,” “Wonderin’ Where the Lions Are.” I got to meet him after the show, and he was a very nice man. But if you go back before he got his limited popularity outside of the singer/songwriter and Americana circles who know him very well in the U.S. (and before he was “knighted,” or whatever the equivalent is, in Canada [he has the Order of Canada]) you can find a pre-success album and this gorgeous hymn. Yes, hymn. This would be at home in any contemporary worship and praise music service today. Cockburn has spent his entire career gently placing subtle hints of his faith in songs (much like one of my favorite bands of the 80s, The Call). That faith has also led him into activism such as voicing concern in song about the plight of the indigenous peoples in Canada (see, America’s not the only guilty party in that case) and the environment. And, I’ve previously mentioned how he accompanied his brother on a mission of mercy in Central America and saw the atrocities (leading to the song “If I Had a Rocket Launcher”). None of that is here. This is a man praising his God. And beautifully so. Lord of the Starfields Written by Bruce Cockburn Recorded by Bruce Cockburn From The Falling Dark, 1976 Heaven and earth are full of Your light:
A great song from Bruce Cockburn's 1976 release 'In The Falling Dark'. Similar to Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, and Leonard Cohen. For more information, visit w...

There is no such thing as overindulging on good music.
