Are the stars out tonight? I don’t know if it’s cloudy or light…..oh, wait. We close down the countdown of my favorites with “star” in the title today with my favorite “star” song. Thanks again and a big hooray to @RasmaSandra for the topic suggestion. Here’s the starriest star of them all in my books. #1: Starry Eyes - The Records You had to be listening to the radio at the right time (which was about three hours in 1979) to have encountered this one. The Records were a power pop band that came around during the rise of The Knack, who made power pop cool again by owning the #1 song of 1979 (“My Sharona”). This song is about an unscrupulous band manager who quite literally went off to France leaving the band “stranded in the British Isles.” So the band fired the manager and got one of the best power pop songs in history in the deal. The Records didn’t last long in the ever-changing world of music at that time. Lead vocalist/writer John Wicks passed away in 2018 from cancer. But what a one hit! Thanks again, Sandra, and thanks to you all for reading. Starry Eyes Written by John Wicks and Will Birch Recorded by The Records From Shades in Bed, 1979 The writ had hit the fan:

That didn’t make the list because the actual name of the song is “Vincent.” I love that song, too!!!!

Love, love, love that song. The reason it wasn’t on the list is because the name of the song is “Vincent.” Dang details.
A beautiful song my favourite

You're right, you had to be listening at the right time in 1979. Apparently I wasn't because this is new to me. Enjoyed this countdown as always. Thanks for teaching me new things.
