Meat Loaf dies aged 74.

My dad just called me into his room and I could tell from his voice it wasn't something pleasant I was about to hear. First I was thinking it was something he read online to do with Covid because lately I've been watching / listening to certain things like a hawk. But sadly it was about Meat Loaf passing away. I know not everyone is a fan, some may not even know who he is and then there will be people like me who really enjoyed his music and enjoyed him as a person. I hate using the word "fan" but I have been one since a little girl. (mum and dad introduced his music to me). I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to "Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" and "I Would Do Anything For Love." And the amount of times I would smile when seeing him in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Which I also saw as a little girl (probably shouldn't have but too late). To be honest, less than a week ago I was talking to my dad about Tim Curry and wondering how he is. (another actor that blew me away over the years with his talent also including Rocky Horror). I know we never know these people personally but sometimes when someone we grew up listening to or watching passes, it hits hard in a certain way. Any Meat Loaf fans here?

Unfortunately, I fall in the category of those who might not know him or be his fan, but I think I might have heard his song. I hope his soul is in a better place

@mildredtabitha No worries at all. I had a feeling there would be some here who wouldn't know him as MyLot is quite eclectic with people and people's interests. There could be a chance you've heard a little of one of his songs in the past. Beautiful ending to your comment too.

@VivaLaDani13 I am a fan of meatloaf and make it in the crockpot when I make it. I have not made it in a long time. I went to Rocky Horror Picture Show many many years ago and enjoyed it. I know you worry about your Dad because of all he has gone through and you have gone through a lot too. I love old music and know that I would do anything for love song. I remember Tim Curry but cannot remember what saw him in. Just take care of yourself

@DocAndersen Thank you. It's all good. Basically I have always like this song, but when I was in an abusive relationship, he played that song and said "The chorus is how I feel about you." He was being mean on purpose (as an abuser does) and it just hurt. I didn't love him so that wasn't why I was hurting. It hurt because an abuser who tortured me in many ways, had the audacity to find another way to make me feel uncared for, unloved, and as if "I" was the problem in the relationship. So sadly whenever I hear that song, I think of his abuse instead of just listening to one of my favourite singers. And have to turn it off.

My Mum told me about this this morning. It is very sad. I liked his music. He was one of the great classic rock stars. He also acted and I saw him in an episode of The Outer Limits. He did a great job. He will be really missed.

@sharonelton oh wow I don't recall him in an episode of The Outer Limits. But then again, I haven't watched all the episodes yet. I am almost certain my dad owns them all. Will have to ask him. I loved those Outer Limit shows and The Twilight Zone too.

@sharonelton Sounds like an awesome episode. I was just looking it up and now I know why I hadn't seen it. I didn't know about the new ones. I had only ever been watching the originals from the 60's. I am happy to know there was more made. Some really good stories!

@VivaLaDani13 It was an episode about these guys who got sent back in time by a strange guy with an old fashioned camera and they ended up in the middle of a civil war or something. I'll go and see if I can find out it's title in a minute.

Fan... probably too strong a word, but I liked some of his stuff and Rocky Horror... well... Rocky was more interesting to me, Eddie was the kind of scary kind. Still, I liked him.

@ElicBxn I can understand that for sure! I rarely go to the movies these days. When I saw Black Dog though, it was due to my brother downloading it. Though, his hard drive screwed up and the movie disappeared. I prefer staying home watching movies. It's free and if I need to go to the toilet or get something to eat etc, I can just pause the movie. I much prefer that.

I'm sorry, I just heard and read his name in the news. But I'm curious and want now to listen to his music. I understand how you feel, because that was how i felt with the passing of Michael Jackosn and Elvis Presley I hope Meat Loaf rests in peace.

@VivaLaDani13 Oh, by the way, I tried to search for Meat Loaf on YouTube after reading your post, and I found out, I have loved one of their songs. I was not just aware it was their song, The song was I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That).

@Jenaisle How cool! It is funny sometimes how we know a song but unsure who the singer / band really is at the time. That is one of my most favourite songs ever. I'm glad you like that one.

@Jenaisle I completely understand the Michael Jackson one. I have been a fan since I was 11 years old and that one hit pretty hard when he passed. I was born in 1991 so I wasn't around when Elvis passed. I know some songs and seen a movie or two but not really a die hard fan. I think there is a new movie coming out about Elvis. Thank you kindly for your response.

@Letranknight2015 aww yeah I know. And it's going to be a bit of a different experience now when listening to him I think. I am not too sure how he passed. I'm a bit confused as some articles say it was from complications of back surgery, or that it was from having Covid and some articles still say it's unknown. It's really hard what to believe.
