I use a lot of tissues. Having COPD you blow nose a lot 
That being said, my oldest son in N.Y. just called last night to tell me he has ordered me a package of several boxes of tissues. Very happy to get them I told him thanks bunches. That will be one more need I will not have to buy for a bit.
I didn't tell him I had the thought that why doesn't he offer to help more like with the car repairs. His wife has become quite rich from a settlement and they have just bought a new house. 
And yes I immediately in my mind become ashamed of myself. Glad I didn't say it out loud.

Have you felt ashamed of yourself for such selfish thoughts?

But as my middle son once said being my kid, I took care of him and bought for him even doing without my self at times raising them. So if I am in need they should help if they can. It's not the same as other family members. It's my child. I think you don't understand that.

@LadyDuck Some kids are very ungrateful like that. Others only to a degree. I have 2 like that and it seems I have done the most for those 2. out of my 5.

@bunnybon7 - We took care of my niece during 10 years, we paid everything for her. Do you believe she takes care of us now that she has a job and plenty of money? She does not even call to know if we are well.

It's OK to have those thoughts. They're natural. Have you ever come right out and asked your son for help?

yes and he informed me it's not his money. His wife decides where it goes.

@bunnybon7 I know one person in that situation; and he has to ask his wife for every penny. I don't think that's right.

yes stupidly for 50 yrs. But so was my whole family . So I got second hand smoke as a child years ago. before anyone knew about it.

I sometimes wonder why people have no food in their house and bills to pay. Than they buy something expensive that they do not need. Than I think that is not right to think that way unless they have the nerve to ask me to buy them some food.

I always pay all I can of the bills and buy food with what's left except for maybe one small splurge usually to do with my games. about 10 bucks.

I hope so. I just felt I was being so selfish with such thoughts. If they was poor or having money trouble I would see it differently

I think everyone feels that way at times toward family that you have helped yourself many times more then they offer to help you.
