Higher price still saved me money

Went to one of the supermarkets in my area and got Tasters Choice Colombian instant coffee. That’s the only store I’ve seen it at. It was on sale for $10.99, saving me .40 cents. That’s still a bit high but had no choice. I really wanted it. It was much cheaper online at Walmart, however, I couldn’t buy it there. I either had to pay $5.99 for shipping (if I remember correctly) or buy $35 worth of stuff to get it shipped for free. Didn’t want to do either. I may have paid more at the supermarket but I saved more by getting it there.

I prefer coffee that’s brewed or made in the espresso machine. But this instant coffee is not bad at all.

The money that I save with a Walmart Plus membership has saved me around $1000 in food savings last year. But I get everything delivered so I do not have to pay delivery fees.

@lovebuglena Yes like Amazon Prime only much cheaper..last I looked it was $98 a year. I have used it at least a thousand orders now so it well paid for itself in omitting delivery fees at $6 to $10 a pop.

@RebeccasFarm it makes sense for you. I don’t really shop there so wouldn’t be worth it for me.

It's funny how that works. Sometimes the lower prices aren't worth it. I'm glad you found a place locally to find and get some.

Me too. I don’t get why that variety is not sold everywhere.

@kaylachan I see no reason why it shouldn’t be in all stores that sell Tasters Choice instant coffee.

Sometimes you just have to pay the price. At least you saved $.40.

Very frustrating though that you have to buy $35 worth of stuff to get free shipping. I’m thinking maybe next time I gotta buy toilet paper I will do it at Walmart, assuming the price is still good, and order coffee from there. That will definitely get me free shipping.

@LindaOHio during the height of the pandemic toilet paper at Walmart online was store pick up only. Now it can be ordered to ship to your house. With Target, there are items (even now I think) that you can’t order for shipping unless you buy $35 worth of stuff.

@lovebuglena Yeah. And they've discontinued shipping a lot of items that we used to get. You have to pick them up.

Instant coffee? At $10.99? I'd have left that in the store. lol I just cannot drink the stuff.

My Breville espresso machine needs to be fixed. So for now I’m drinking instant coffee. I only get Tasters Choice instant coffee. Usually I get it on sale at Duane Reade for $7.49. Last time I ordered it at Walgreens online and did Duane Reade store pickup and was able to get 25% off so it cost me $5.xx.

@porwest I don't have a Walmart near me lol. What's a $15 coffee pot? I've been drinking instant coffee since 2020. That's when the machine started not working as it should.

@lovebuglena Heck, if it came down to having to drink instant coffee I'd just go to Walmart and buy a $15 coffee pot until I could get the better one fixed. Ain't no way in hell you will get me to drink instant coffee. lol

I rarely shop at supermarkets, better at traditional markets because they are cheaper

@lovebuglena seriously you don't know? it is a simple buying and selling place. The place is usually only a tarpaulin roof or semi-permanent building.

At least you were able to get it and save 40 cents. Better than nothing.
