Does anyone have a glass-topped electric stove? If so does it clean up well?

We switched from gas to an electric, glass-top range because with the gas food for burned on next to the burners and it was difficult to clean off.
I'm finding with our new electric range it's still a problem although I don't know if I have scratches or did is burnt on it something else. Certain foods clean up decently while others are a major pain.
I've been using the cleaner suggested by the store and manufacturer but it's far from what I expected it to be. I don't know whether each brand cleans up differently or what. We have a Frigidaire.
I've even been cleaning it daily and it's still not great.
Your thoughts? I hope others here have one too help me with ideas.
I did read again the directions on the cleaner. I've been using a microfiber cloth which is recommended for my fridge and dishwasher but this calls for a paper towel. So I'll switch and see if that helps.

@MarshaMusselman I find that I really have to work hard to rinse all of it off, its so thick.
After I use that I try to use a solution I have of water, windex and dawn dish soap and I find that works beautifully. And it cleans up easier. But every once in a while I have to use that other stuff.

@Juliaacv we wash windows with Dawn so I started putting dawn into water and using paper towels. It cleans up current messes but not what we missed before. And neither does the white cleaner.

Does it get everything off or leave some marks behind?

We have a 6 burner gas stovetop in Connecticut and a glass one in Florida. I hate it. If only we had gas there. I find it a pain to clean even with the special cleaner and cloth that came with it. I find the gas better for cooking. It’s a breeze to clean, too.

My gas ones were never a breeze to clean but I never anticipated having to spend so much time cleaning the glass one either.
I did talk with someone that was buying more polish and she uses the polish with a scrubby or sometimes yes a clean razor blade. She also felt that her old pans were scratching the surface and replaced them. I've wondered about our pans already so we'll prob replace them too.

Our friend had a glass top electric range, Chuck's stovetop always looked nice. We prefer a gas range, ours is new. It has removable grids, it's simple to keep it clean. We never burn foods.

My husband used to cook in high heat even though it's not recommended. He's tapered off right now.

@kobesbuddy we don't burn the food itself. But he causes boil overs and things like that. Grease everywhere. I've tried to get him to lower the heat and I think he's finally getting it at least better than before.

I found out I can use a scrubby and razor blade on it so will try that and see if that helps. My husband has to learn how to cook in lower heat. I think he's still getting boil overs and that might be the main problem.
Our gas stove never looked clean either although I didn't clean it daily either.

@MarshaMusselman Boil overs can definitely make cleaning miserable. My glass cook top just got scratched, always looked dirty to me, and I couldn't cook the way I wanted to. When I first got it I thought it was an interesting idea. But again, I will never go back.

I've been cleaning before using it again too. I used a method product earlier to get off the grease splatters and that made a big difference.
I don't know if I'm seeing built up foods, burnt on foods or scratches or something else.

I just use whatever I have ..Dawn, baking soda, vinegar then I get windex and shine it, but there are still marks and scratches on it, but that is from previous tenants.
I hate this glass top..and even electric..hate them.
It comes with the rental.
I still like the old gas stoves, but the energy freaks are trying to get rid of those.

It's so very good to see you Janet. Last night my husband thought to wipe up some grease while the burner was still hot and the diggers from the cloth are now stuck to the burner. Not happy and about that but who'd have known that could happen?

I don't have time to clean it every moment of each day but I can't afford to keep buying new ranges either. My gas range was only nine years old before we converted to electric.
My sister and sil both have similar ranges. It could be that certain brands stand up better than others do. I'll have to look at theirs more closely to see if they have the marks that mine now does to know whether it's just mine or what

For the last fifteen years we've had gas stoves so I'm lacking wisdom in it too. It could be that certain brands respond better to the cleaning methods. My sister and sil's glad topped stoves always look good but I've never taken a closer look. Mine looks fine from father away but not up close
I aim to look closer at the ones my family has next time I visit.
