It Has Been A Very Long Time

Hello to my old friends on the site and greetings to those who've joined during my prolonged absence.
To be honest, I cannot tell you just how long it has been since I last posted here on myLot. I just know it has been a very long time. I have no idea if there is anyone left on the site who remembers me.
The last two years have been something of a challenge professionally and personally. I won't go into specifics other than to say my time has been monopolized with work, both at school and with my writing.
Those excuses made, I hope to be able to return to active participation here on the site. I look forward to reconnecting.

@DWDavis — I had a mild case (confined to my gut, thank God, because I have respiratory issues) in December 2020. As soon as it was allowed I got my vaccination. I’m having a cardiology test tomorrow, and if they say I can get the booster afterwards I will. I’ve done quite a bit of traveling, too, putting over 40,000 miles on my “new” car (it won’t be two years old until May!). And I won the only golf tournament I played last year. 
Don’t know if you knew them, but we’ve lost two myLot members: Owlings passed away in November, and Fredo (Alfredo Rossi) passed away last summer.

@DWDavis — my winter vacation last year was to Galveston, then my Derby Week vacation was to Georgia and back up the east coast to Wilmington, NC. In the fall I went out west to four states I’d never been to before: South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota. I prefer to drive because I’m impulsive (“Oh, that looks interesting!”); and, as the comedian Gallagher said, I like my luggage to arrive in the same city I’m in.

@FourWalls Glad your case was mild. Good for you for getting vaxxed. I'm vaxxed and boosted. Teaching in an elementary school, getting as protected as possible seemed the practical thing to do. The kids come from a variety of backgrounds and not all families take sensible precautions.
Congrats on the golf tournament win. Where all have you traveled to put so many miles on your car?
So sad to learn about Owlings and Fredo. I know they're missed.

@DWDavis Sorry to hear about the downs. I won't pry - I just hope things are or will be better for you in this new year. We've been trying to navigate through this pandemic thing, and still. I remember you were teaching and it must not have been easy these past couple years (my kids had to go remote but are in-person now). Crazy, strange times. Thank goodness we still have myLot!

I remember you. It’s good to see you back. I was away over a year My son passed away and I didn’t have the heart for anything then my mate passed away in September. By then I was so down being alone I came back to Mylot to be in touch with my old friends. I’m so glad I did. Although I’m still grieving friends on Mylot have been a big help.

Welcome back! (Your name came up in a recent discussion of people who were missing here.)
Real life does have a habit of consuming our lives at times. It's perfectly understandable. (I hope things are going better for you now.)
Just so you're aware, there have been a couple of events here that you might like to know about... Gil (Alex of GoAskAlice) passed away and Mr. A. took his place as GAA for a while then Mr. A. also passed away so we have a new GAA now.
You'll find there are fewer active users on myLot currently than there were when you were last active. Some are playing on another site currently but pop in from time to time just to keep in touch with the "homebodies" here. Others have slipped away. Some we know have passed away and others we just don't know what happened with them. (We hope those friends have just gotten caught up in real life and will return when they have time.)
