A couple of years ago, I watched Britannia, Season 1. The premise was interesting even if some of the dialogue and scenes were a bit raw and rough. I then patiently waited for Season 2. I waited, and waited, and waited. At long last, it is here. In case you're not familiar with the story, it takes place in the 40-50 A.D. period and fictionalizes the second invasion of Britain by a Roman General who is really an embodiment of evil. The Romans set the British tribes against one another and then betrays them both in season 1. Season 2 starts two years after the end of Season 1. We learn that the only thing the Roman general is scared of is the Druids and they've gone into hiding. The storyline is challenging to follow but is interesting if you look past some of the gross and gritty.

I watched this show on either Amazon Streaming or one of the channels it offers. Pretty gritty stuff but some of it was in line with history. I sometimes wonder who got the notion that humans were that barbaric when in fact human is simply human. Some will always be ruthless and violent but for the most part I believe humans just tried to survive the elements while looking for food and shelter .... it's not like they had Walmart to count on for food.

I agree that the show ramps up the gruesome aspect to make more dramatic television.

Amazon Prime, I believe. I stream with a Fire Stick, so am not always sure what the source of my shows are.

I don't know if that is on here. We watch very little TV but I'm sure we miss a lot of good stuff.

Hadn't heard of it before. Sounds like it would be interesting with the exception of the raw, gross and gritty parts.

The storyline is interesting, and this season they've expanded it to incorporate a twist on an eclectic collection of creation myths.
