Chicago Firefighters rescue a runaway dog who was in an ice drift in Lake Michigan

A seven year old Alaskan klee kai named Pepper managed to run away from his owner on Tuesday morning and ran into an ice drift 500 feet from shore into Lake Michigan.
A Chicago police officer who was in the area contacted the local firefighters who just happened to be in the area doing diving drills.
The Chicago firefighters then did their duty to rescue Pepper who needed to be rescued while he was in an ice drift away from the shore.
Pepper was then taken to a local animal hospital to be treated for exposure to cold weather. The good news is that Pepper is in good condition and he will be returned to his owner as soon as possible.

The same here since it would have broken my heart had Pepper had passed away from the cold weather in the lake.
