It was reported early on in Trump's presidency that he routinely ripped up notes, schedules, briefing materials, texts, emails, etc. That was illegal because, according to the Presidential Records Act, all materials relating to his term as president were required to be preserved and turned over to the National Archives at the end of his term. He was told repeatedly by White House counsel and other aides that he had to stop doing that but he refused to do so. There is even a rumor that he once ATE a note to destroy it but paper sounds like too healthy of an ingredient for him to consume given what we know about his diet. The White House had to dedicate personnel to the sole task of rifling through the trash (or around the floor) to collect torn up bits of paper and then tape them back together. Can you imagine if that was your job? After Trump lost his bid to block the January 6 House Select Committee from obtaining over 700 pages of documents they received some taped-together documents and even some that were still just in pieces. The National Archives also recently obtained 15 boxes of documents and records that Trump improperly/illegally took with him to Mar-A-Lago including his "love letter" from Kim Jong-Un. I would imagine that one wasn't torn up. Anyway today the National Archives has referred Trump's intentional destruction of official Presidential records to the Department of Justice. It will be interesting to see what (if anything) comes of that. Merrick Garland doesn't seem to be doing much about all of Trump's criming while in the White House but who knows what is going on behind the scenes.
There has been much debate over penalties for former President Donald Trump for knowingly destroying documents and then taking official documents to take back to Mar-a-Lago. The statute lists, among the punishments, disqualification from office, which has

Worst case, he won't be re-elected. With all the trump-hate, I'm sure if he does try to run in 2024 he won't be voted back in.

I would not count my chickens before they are hatched. I am not sure I want him to run. But I think a LOT of Americans have awakened to a LOT of things that weren't right not only during Trump's presidency going on by the dems and the media, but a LOT of Americans are questioning the election results and NO ONE is seriously thinking Biden is doing a good job, INCLUDING the media which has kind of had to quietly admit things aren't looking so good.
