Shawn Miller was playing ice hockey with his friend Cory Hemberger in Pennsylvania about 11 days ago when he heard the screams for help from a 13 year old boy who fell through the ice and was in danger of freezing to death while by his friend was trying to save him by reaching him with his hand. I would call Cory a guardian angel of the 13 year old boy whose name was not mentioned cried for help as well as his friend who was trying to rescue him since Cory acted on his knowledge to use his hockey stick to get the 13 year old boy from drowning in the icy lake. Tim Miller who is the father of Shawn was watching the events of the boy struggling to stay afloat in the icy lake from his truck nearby when he called 911 to send help to rescue the 13 year old boy. Cory must have had a guardian angel looking out for him since he admitted that when he used his ice hockey stick to rescue the teen and his friend since the ice where he was standing was ready to break and take him into the icy water. However he was able to save both boys as well as himself when first responders came to give them some medical assistance. Both boys are in good spirits despite being exposed to the cold elements of the icy lake. Lisa Hemberger who is the mother of Cory learned about the rescue of the two boys on Facebook the next day admitted they she proud of her son who not only is a great ice hockey player, he is also a hero. The post on Facebook came from the mother of one of the boys that Cory rescued in the icy lake. Ice hockey sticks can be used as life savers as well as hitting an ice puck in the skating arena.

Even though I do not live in a cold weather climate in Louisiana, I also get scared of these icy lake areas.

It does concerns me that some persons today do not heed the warning from authority figures to stay away from icy ponds and icy lakes.

Glad to know that the boys were rescued. It's always a danger to play on such place, people should understand it.

That is true since the authorities have begged people who play on icy conditions to be careful.

That is very true since Corey admitted that he was scared that he would have fallen into the icy lake himself during the rescue of the two boys.

Such a smart idea to use his hockey stick to help rescue the boy.

Cory has a great heart of compassion as well as smarts to use his hockey stick to save the young boys from drowning in the ice.

You are right since firefighters have warned people not to mess around in icy lakes or icy ponds since their weight can cause the ice to break.
