I Feel Like a VIP Sometimes

When you travel often for work, being that I go to the same places mostly, and once I find a hotel that suits my fancy, being a guy who enjoys familiarity, I of course also always stay at the same hotels, people get to know you a bit. You become familiar. They know I like extra coffee packets. They know I prefer the second floor. They know if there is a room available that does not face the parking lot that is my preference. They know me by name. Nothing like walking into the lobby and not even having to say, "Checking in for Bauer." When I walk in they simply say, "Welcome back Mr. Bauer," and hand me the key to my favorite accommodations. Makes me feel like a VIP, if even only for a short time.

How great is that. We should all be treated like a VIP. Especially when you travel as much as you do.

I always like to think that anyone who spends money in an establishment is a VIP. But that's just me. Not how it always works in life though.

@CarolDM I think there was a time when businesses actually appreciated their customers and let them know it. These days not so much.

I usually get stopped all the time anyway for autographs and what not. Porwest is a very famous Internet influence. I try to keep a low profile, but I admit it is difficult when you are me.

You must be going to the "Cheers" Hotel . . . where everybody knows your name . . .

That’s nice. Do they give you a discount?

@porwest that’s nice. Good that you can get a gift card you can use anywhere. I hate those that tie you to a specific store.

No. No discount. But I do get "rewards points" I can either cash in for free nights or gift cards or other things. I usually just get a $100 gift card that is a Visa I can use for anything I want.

Unless I am going to a place I am at the first time ever. Then it would be spooky if they knew me.

Sounds like our favorite staycation place. We haven't visited in a couple years, because our favorite feature, the evening social, had been canceled due to the pandemic. However, they are fully staffed, and things are slowly but surely coming back. When they are, my husband and I plan on treating ourselves to a couple-night stay and enjoying the accomidations we normally miss out on.
