Diesel Prices Through the Roof

It seems like it was about 10 years ago that diesel became the more expensive fuel. It used to be for many years that diesel was always cheaper than regular gas, mostly because it is less refined. But that has changed. I filled up in Hudson, Illinois yesterday and it cost me $126 and today when I filled up in Steven's Point, Wisconsin I spent another $103. Most likely I will need to fill up twice more. So, all said, based on averages, on this four day trip through Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa I will likely spend about $458. Thankfully it is the company truck and so I will be reimbursed once I turn in my expense report. But hell, think about this for a second. My hotels for all three days only cost me about $300. My gas will cost $150 more than that. That's just crazy.

Gas prices are on the rise for sure. There was a ten cent increase here in the past few days. Up to 3.42 a gallon now. Not sure about diesel.

Diesel tends to be higher these days. So, probably around $3.80 at the time you wrote this. It was over $4 in Iowa.

It really is crazy. My car is about a 15 gallon tank and it cost me $50 to fill it up.

It does sound crazy. Wonder why diesel fuel has gotten so expensive?

The people behind it got smart. All those trucks that transport all the goods we buy use it. They are on the road 24/7. If you want to get the biggest bang for the buck, get it from those who will use the most of something. That would be the truckers. From a business standpoint it just makes sense.

I can understand that. My husband was telling me how the regular fuel appears to have skyrocketed. Crazy, right?

Welcome to Biden's America. Gas prices back through the roof, nothing on the shelves at the store, inflation at 7.5%... Everything is peachy. lol

I saw the prices on my trip. I was upset about $3.25 until I saw what the truckers are paying. Won’t our president lift an arthritic finger to help this??? (Personal opinion: he wants it. If you remember, when he was last in the White House there was a “car crisis” too, where a lot of car dealerships had to close or “consolidate” into other dealerships. Just sayin’….)
