Big Iron then and Big Iron now

Son 1 sent me a link to a new version of Marty Robbins cowboy classic Big Iron, a song about an Arizona Ranger taking down a murderous outlaw. The new version takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
I watched the new video during my planning period this morning and realized I had to share it with my class. How to work it into my lesson plan, though?
What I did was find a video of the original by Marty Robbins someone had married to clips from a Clint Eastwood western. Then, I showed the new version, discussed it with the class, and followed up with the old version. Finally, we watched the new version again.
The class really enjoyed this lesson. They loved picking out the similarities between the two videos such as saloons and cantinas, the good guy being outnumbered in the big showdown, among other things.
I'm including a link to the new version. Let me know what you think.

Excellent job. (I haven’t seen any but the original three Star Wars movies, but I know the basic story of the newer things.). Good vocals, and — I hate to say this, but it’s true — no Grady Martin guitar overkill on this rendition!!! (Grady Martin played just a little too much — okay, a LOT too much — on the Robbins song.

I am glad your students enjoyed this, I would prefer good old cowboys but it certainly is an innovative and interesting video,

That's the kind of lesson that I loved about home-schooling my children. I think I probably learned more teaching them than they did!

I am always learning more when I teach. To supplement my writing lessons, the kids and I have been reading through a draft manuscript of mine and they are great at pointing out where I've used similes, metaphors, figurative language, idioms, and some days they beg me to let them hear and read more of the story.

@SophiaMorros I can, without being immodest, admit that many students, past and current, tell me I am their favorite teacher. I even have kids from lower grades telling me how they can't wait to be in my class.

@DWDavis I suspect you are at the top of a few of your student's lists of favourite teachers!

I haven’t heard the new version and am not home at the moment to use wifi to listen to the video. My husband and stepson love the original. It’s an okay song but I don’t love it how they do. What version do you like better?

Yippie eye oh, Yippie eye yay
Ok, that's what I kept expecting to hear
I've only seen the original Star Wars movie so a lot of this is lost on me.

That's pretty amazing to come up with something like that. I can understand that the kids loved it. Good for you.
