Into the top five we go in the countdown of my favorite songs with “poor” in the title. This is the song I believe that most people have been waiting for, given previous comments. You just have to be patient!
Monday’s a gloomy day but this should improve the day. Here you go.
#5: Poor Little Fool - Ricky Nelson
In my last list of “songs you may not know were covers” I used “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” well-known by the Mamas and Papas. I pointed out that the original version was by Ozzie Nelson. (Not Ozzy, Mr. Nelson never bit the heads off bats.
)
Or, Ricky’s dad.
I also mentioned that, when The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet began as a TV series Ozzie was the star. Within a year, Ricky took over, thanks to the slew of hits he had.
“Poor Little Fool” was Nelson’s first #1 hit. And, over 60 years later, it’s one of his greatest musical legacies.

Nothing poor about this tune
One of my favorites along with Garden Party and Travelin' Man. It's Up To You is another that I like. When your 2nd in popularity to Elvis in 1958, Ozzie didn't stand a chance
