A short-sighted bee, maybe?

My husband, Vince, is a keen photographer and belongs to a number of online photo groups. In one of the groups, one member often puts up the most incredible photos of various types of bees. To me, a bee is a bee but it seems there is an amazing number of different bee species.
Seeing so many spectacular bee photos has sparked Vince’s interest in photographing bees and insects so I’m sharing one of his recent photos here. However, I’m just not sure how many little bees wear glasses.

I have never seen such a close up of a bee before. That is something else!

@JudyEv - It is really an amazing photo. I do not think I have ever seen a bee so closely! Now, when I see a bee buzzing around the flowers here, I will wonder if they are wearing eyeglasses!

@DeborahDiane Some of the flowers are so brightly coloured, you'd think they'd need sunglasses. Now I'm wondering if they can squint.

It does look as if she's wearing coke-bottle glases.

Haha - very clever. Go to the top of the class - I mean, go to the top of the hive!

It does look like glasses on it !
This post reminds me of my dad that I remember once while visiting him, he had a bee box he took me to and showed me. He never used the gloves or bee protective gear. Just went up to it and took out a piece of honey comb. he handed it to me and I saw a couple bees on him but he said they never stung him because he did not have some kind of hormone that made them fear him?
I never understood that. They seem to like stinging me sometimes.

@JudyEv yes they do. I have only seen that happen with my dad but have heard of a few other people being able to do it.

Wow, that is an amazing photo! That’s how I like to see bees. I don’t want to get too close to one to scare it or anger it.

@JudyEv — oh, I hope not! Does he use a longer lens on his camera? I assume he isn’t doing that with an iPhone.
