Time to Act, Biden, We Are Suffering Here

Biden stood before the American people in a recent press conference and said, "I will do everything in my power to limit the pain that people are feeling at the gas pump." The problem with this statement is that he won't. Because no matter what anyone's thoughts were about Trump then, or Biden now, the reality is that the MAIN reason we ARE experiencing pain at the gas pump is because of Biden's executive orders that reversed Trump's energy policy. It is that simple, folks. When Trump was president we had prices at the pump that were under $2 a gallon, and almost immediately after Biden took office gas prices were jumping. Granted, gas prices DID begin to spike a bit under Trump in his last days. This is undeniable. But the cause for any spikes then was due to supply chain issues stemming from Covid at the time and less demand. Some of the higher prices at the pump are a product of some of that which is still ongoing. But the LARGE reason is due to the reversal of Trump's energy policy, and now that we have this issue with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it is anticipated that gas prices will jump even higher. So, you have key democrats calling for the president to open up the strategic oil reserves and go ahead with his 18 cent per gallon moratorium on the federal gas tax to the end of the year. The latter of which admittedly is being blocked by republicans with some democrats stalling it as well. The thing is that the solution is RIGHT THERE in front of everyone. Biden, the republicans, the democrats. Everyone. Restore Trump's energy policy and while it may not get gas back under $2 a gallon, it will do more to ease the pain at the pump by Americans than anything else they want to do will. Give the American people a break and man up and just admit they got this one wrong. Admit Trump was right. Or, at the very least, restore the energy policy of Trump and lie to the American people and say it was your idea. No one is going to ask any questions. They will believe you. And I can accept the lie if it helps American families to feel less pressure when they fill up their tanks when they are already suffering enough with out of control inflation on everything else.

It just blows my mind that we had a policy that put domestic energy supplies first, and now we have an administration in power who puts foreign energy supplies first. We have most of what we need right here. Let's reverse policy and do what needs to be done. Hell, we can even export energy supplies to Europe to soften the blow of them losing Russian energy supplies.

It would be too good to be true for Biden to go back to Trump's policies.

@porwest I don’t see that happening either.

There has to come a time when everyone, left or right, needs to set aside their politics and simply do what is best for the American people. I do not see that happening unfortunately.

Wirth respect to gas prices going up because pipeline going down, do you hot remember the many oil spills that are affecting your water supply? Do you not like to be able to see wilderness in prime conditions? If the pipelines are let to do as they please, then our water supplies are in danger. And our national parks will be in trouble of shutting down. Is this what you want in return for lower gas prices?

@porwest There are plenty of pipelines that leak and go unreported. Fracking lets dangerous chemicals enter the water table to make them unusable. Would you want an oil fracking drilling next to your house? especially if it were near your source of water?

@porwest As a Native American, the outdoors is my house and Trump was letting any industry in destroying my house. It is not just my house but belongs to the public and not industry.

It was not just the pipeline that Biden nixed of course. It was fracking, offshore drilling and other exploration and drilling that Biden stopped. As for pipelines, the greatest threat comes from oil ships transporting the oil from foreign countries to the United States and other places. The biggest oil spill in history was actually done on purpose during the Gulf War if you will remember. Pipelines are also historically the safest most economical way to transport oil. What you are describing are hypothetical talking points heralded by the left that have never happened with the exception of the San Pedro Bay pipeline.

The last time he was in the White House (as VP) gas got up to $4 a gallon on average (much higher in California, of course). That “I’ll do everything to ease pain at the pump” fib only works on people who have a short memory. Like what happened when Russia invaded Crimea in 2014 when he was VP……. I’ll say this: with inflation at 7% it doesn’t bode well for the “party in power” in the upcoming elections. Ask Bush 41. Or Jimmy Carter.

Short memory is a notorious issue with democrats. Like the border thing. No one on the left seems to remember that they (the democrats) were for tighter borders and even fences. They nearly ALL voted for the Secure Fence Act for crying out loud. Oh well. I could cite a hundred things the left has forgotten they once stood FOR, but it would all fall on deaf ears so why bother? lol

I have come to realize that sharing actual facts or mentioning Trump here is pointless. It's already been decided that Orange Man Bad and anything he did was racist or bigoted or bad for the country and world. Some of the most ignorant and apathetic people post at MyLot and any wisdom is dismissed. We were energy independent. We were exporting oil and OPEC had to follow our lead. Trump's energy policy lowered prices around the globe but no one wants to recognize that fact and because the media was so critical and negative of Trump, people formed opinions based on partial truths and other manufactured "stories." The sheep just swallow the spoon fed news. Name calling and bashing are pretty common here. Understanding the truth is uncommon here.

I sure wish you had a voice in the White house right now. But they still wouldn't listen.
