I brought our camper home from the shop today. Due to water damage, it required extensive repairs. Now, it is in the best shape it's been in since we bought it new. I am glad the shop was able to get it fixed on time for us to start our camping season next weekend. We have a lot of trips planned for this year. Do you enjoy camping/RVing?

It's awesome you have such a set up like that - you're ready to go camping at anytime (and could literally go anywhere). We hope to finally make use of our camping gear in the summer . . . we love being outdoors but don't get to actually "camp" too often.

We gradually moved from tent camping to a popup, to a tag-a-long, to this. We don't plan on buying another. This is to be our retirement home on the road until we decide where we want to settle down.

@DWDavis That'd be an amazing way to start your retirement! I think I remember the pop-op you had. This set up looks very nice too .

Yes, I do very much. I have camped in a tent, a borrowed RV and a small 1 room cabin. I liked the cabin the best. This camping was all done in campgrounds.

Several of the campgrounds we stay at have nice cabins. This seems to be growing in popularity as an option to owning your own RV or staying in a hotel.

Yes, but our 5th wheel will need roof repair before taking it back on the road. We haven't used it in a couple of years.

Yeah, I used to. Never had a camper van of any type though.

@DWDavis A popup would be nice to have. Most of them don't cost that much either.

@snowy22315 We bought our popup from an Air Force officer who was moving from NC to Nevada. If you are careful, you can get a good deal on popup in decent shape that is fairly new as a lot of folks move on to something bigger or with a hardshell after a year or two.

The missus and I were tent campers for most of our marriage, including when the boys were growing up. It wasn't until Son2 went off to college that we bought our first popup camper.

I'm not into camping and don't know how to drive an RV nor do I have a pickup truck to pull a camper. I'll just campout at home instead. I hope you'll have a blast on your next camping trip.

That's a great outfit you have there. I'm sure you'll have a lot of great times in it.

This will be our 4th year with this rig. We will be camping quite a bit from now through next December.

@JudyEv During the spring and fall, all but our Easter Vacation trips are weekend trips. Once school is out for the summer, we extend them to three or four days and take a couple of week-long journeys. On rare occasions, when my wife can take the time off, we will head out to the mountains for a 2-week stay.

@DWDavis If you are teaching, are they mostly weekend trips?

Bugs aren't a big worry for us with the camper to escape into. We also have a portable screen room we put up on our campsite to keep the creepy-crawlies away when we're outside.

We enjoy camping but we do it the old-fashioned way, with a tent! Glad you got your camper back better than new! Where is your first trip going to be?

My wife and I were tent campers for 25+ years, including the years we spent with our boys going through the Scout program. I was a tent camper from early on with Scouts and my dad. When our youngest went off to college, we decided we were ready to try RVing and bought a popup. I don't see myself ever going back to tent camping again.

Looks like it was designed to fit a pick up wagon. And there was I thinking that all caravans were the same!

This style works with a special hitch bolted into the bed of the truck. It is easier to tow and more stable than the standard tag-a-long.
