Oh yum! I had to look up gau gee . . . it's kinda like won tons, right? I love those Hawaiian plates - you are lucky to actually be there!

@oahuwriter I'm not sure if I've actually had gau gee - I guess it's Hawaiian style Chinese? Interesting about won ton min - I read that being Hawaiian comfort food too . . . I've never had won ton and noodles in a soup together.

Gay gee is different shape & different filling from won ton. Traditionally, won ton is folded in a triangle then the 3 corners are solidified together. Won ton filling has shrimp & pork and a bit spicy. Gau gee is folded into a rectangle is filled with only pork. Both deep fried or steamed. Won ton min, us saimin with garnish of won ton. Restaurant won ton min, always tastes so good.

@much2say Locally, it's an old favorite. Can't beat burger & fries though.

Corned beef and cabbage are go-together foods, aren't they? If you don't have them together, something seems missing.

@oahuwriter Years ago, some people would cook the cabbage till it was just about pulp.

Indeed! I slather my corn beef with mustard, yum! Like my cabbage just a little over half cooked.
