Wow, it’s spring!!!! Before lunch it’s over 70 degrees! I’ll bookmark this and read it next Saturday when it’s in the 30s.
Meanwhile, will you just LOOK at who’s showing up on yet another one of my countdowns….this one dealing with types of money we use.
#4: Little Ole Dime - Jim Reeves
Linda? Go listen to “She Works Hard for the Money” again.
Everyone else can listen to a true rarity in the world of Jim Reeves: a shuffle. While Reeves did a lot of country music before the Nashville Sound (and even plenty of it afterwards: this came out four years after “He’ll Have to Go” and just before his death in a plane crash in 1964), two things you don’t hear a whole heck of a lot in his world are fiddles (I think the last song he recorded with a fiddle was when he was still on Abbott, in 1955) and shuffles.
And, while Ray Price was the king of the 4/4 shuffle back then, Reeves showed he could do one equally as well.
Little Ole Dime
Written by Jim Carroll
Recorded by Jim Reeves
From Good ‘n’ Country, 1964
If she answers or not it’s still goodbye:

Love Ray Price, too. Got three of his songs on my 100 favorites list.

@FourWalls Yes indeed. My Dad could sing very close to him. I remember many of his songs when he played in his band. They would play at our house, and my uncle's house. So cool. The house would be packed with friends. Such good times. My sweet Momma would keep the large coffee pot full for everyone. Literally, For the Good Times. What a walk down memory lane. Thank you.

You’ll never get an argument out of me about his voice. He’s always been my favorite singer (if you can’t tell by my myLot name…..

@FourWalls I never made the connection, but now I understand.
The first of Jim's songs I learned was Roses are Red My Love.
