Hello and welcome to MyLot.
I think that being yourself is the best advice I could give. Be honest and know the issues you're likely to face. Look people in the eye and don't make promises you can't keep.
Make sure you always remember that your position is to represent the people that elected you.
Run a clean campaign and put in the legwork to meet as many people as possible.
I wish you the best of luck.

Good for you. It's a brave thing to enter into public life.
You be you and make the difference. Make your town a better place. It sounds as if you already have support.
Develop a platform of key issues you want to address and knock on every door you can. Seek key endorsements from the community. Make everyone proud.

This is well said.
Be very sincere and down-to-earth. One of the things I look for in public servants and elected officials are sincerity and honesty, and someone who is working for all the people, not just a select few.

That’s a big responsibility that I don’t think I could handle so I never thought I would. My father was a city council and acted as the mayor. He was supposed to run for mayor in 1992 and it was predicted to be a sure win since he’s well loved by the people. He got murdered in 1991.

@Meggan it was politically motivated and it was because he was running for mayor.
