Biliary Colic

I was not well yesterday but as I read the group chat at work the nurse working with me was sick so I didn't have the conscience to call in sick too as I am the only nurse left to work. But before the handover started I felt the under of my rib getting squeezed it was too painful I was crying in pain. My colleague had to wheel me to the emergency department in my uniform. I was so embarrassed and also so worried of the emergency charges. The doctor said it's gall bladder colic but I'm glad I don't have to stay in hospital. They sent me home after an IV parecoxib and paracetamol. They're going to book me for a scan to have it checked and make sure there's no stones. Pain back to being dull instead of squeezing.

@flapiz The pain lasts for several days, or until you arrive to get rid of the stones.

Oh no! So sorry to har that. I am hoping that it can still be remedied by meds and does not need surgery. I think you should avoid certain kinds of food that triggers it for now.

@flapiz hopefully that can help you a bit. Are you taking other medications for your condition?

@RebeccasFarm unfortunately not yet my GP put me off work for a week. But my scan apparently needs to be on the 30th and I can't wait that long I might have to pay from my own pocket.

Well if it's small they let it be. If it's large then they have to operate.

Sorry to hear that you are not well . It seems like it is gall stone problem you are having. I heard they can be flushed out naturally. Please don't do surgery if it is gall stones.

@askme123 Well it's not really a necessary organ but of I had a choice I'd like to keep it.

@nela13 I still have the dull pain under my ribs so I guess there might be something else going on but I have the ultrasound scheduled on Wednesday. I can't wait to just know what it is.

I am sorry that you fell ill so quickly like that. I also have gall stones, I do not feel like they bother me, unless I have just had them for so long that I do not notice any difference.

I do hope so if I do I hope they're at least small enough to be dissolved without operation.
